Remember back when the Republicans were in the majority, and President Bush was trying to get Supreme Court Justices Roberts and Alito appointed?
And remember how the minority Dems fought those nominations?
I do.
And I also remember liberals saying that the Dems were just doing what their constituents had voted them into office to do — oppose Republicans (and in this case, specifically, to prevent conservative judges from being appointed).
___________
Now — fast forward back to today, where Dems are the majority and Republicans are the minority.
After being thwarted by Republicans using an age-old procedure — the motion to recommit — that requires Democrats to actually go on record in regards to difficult votes.
The ploy works beautifully since the Dems have no backbones whatsoever. And would rather back away from their posturing than actually have to go on the record for having voted for their idiotic ideas.
So how have the Democrats responded? By threatening to change the rules:
In English, that means that Speaker Pelosi and the Democrat leadership are proposing a massive change to the current House rules regarding the Republican right to the motion-to-recommit bills to Committees for improvement.
This rules change is a historic infringement on the rights of the Minority-it is the first change in this House rule since 1822. The RSC Floor Action Team, under the leadership of Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, have requested a series of procedural votes every 30 minutes in response to this power grab by the Majority. More details are likely to follow as the situation unfolds.
Fucking. Cowards.

UPDATE: Powerline reports that Pelosi blinked.
