Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) is widely known as John “Back Door Deal” Murtha for his penchant for promising his votes — regardless of how he or his constituents actually feel about the issue — as long has he can piggy back earmarks for his district on the deal.
Now we can also start calling him John “That’s the way I do it” Murtha, too:
According to the draft resolution, Murtha shouted at and chastised Rogers on the House floor Thursday for offering a motion last week to challenge $23 million Murtha requested in an intelligence bill.
Murtha had requested the money to prevent the administration from shuttering the National Drug Intelligence Center in Johnstown, Pa., which is part of Murtha’s district.
“I hope you don’t have any earmarks in the defense appropriations bills because they are gone, and you will not get any earmarks now and forever,†Murtha told Rogers, according to the draft transcript given to The Politico.
“This is not the way we do things here – and is that supposed to make me afraid of you?†Rogers replied.
“That’s the way I do it,†Murtha said
Of course it is, Jack. But that doesn’t make it ethical, now does it?
$23 million in pork. Going to his home district. I can see why he’s hot under the collar about being questioned. The only reason this man — much like Sen. Byrd (D-WV) — keeps getting re-elected is for his ability to bring home the pork.
Every time I think either Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, or Durbin has surpassed Murtha as the most despicable person in Congress, he sinks to a new level.
In describing his feelings about Ron Paul, Ace wrote, “Fuck Ron Paul. If I ever see this cocksucker in person, I’ll take a swing at him.”
That’s pretty close to how I feel about Murtha*.

*Note to the litigious or the Secret Service: I’m not threatening to punch the Congressman. I know I’d get shot and/or go to prison for even trying. I’m just saying I’d like to punch the Congressman, and that he deserves to be punched. By somebody. Anybody, really.

Screw all of them. This ought to make Preston happy. Although I consider myself an Independent when it comes to voting, today I officially changed my voter registration. Next, I called the RNC and informed them I had been a registered Republican for 42 years (and she interrupted me and said, “Is this about immigration..I’ll pass the message along that you’re against it.” I said, “”no, you don’t get it. Today I am no longer a registered Republican,” and she quickly said ok and hung up the phone.
