From the Associated (with Terrorists) Press:
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. — Six nationals of the former Yugoslavia were arrested on charges they plotted to attack the Fort Dix Army base and “kill as many soldiers as possible,” federal authorities said Tuesday.
The initial AP article I read this morning mentioned that the men arrested were “ethnic Albanians”. But the words “Muslim” and “Islamic” were conspicuously absent from the rest of the AP’s story.
FOX News, thankfully, is not afraid to tell the entire truth:
The suspects were described as “Islamic radicals” by a Greg Reinert, a spokesman for the United States Attorney’s Office.
Feign shock and surprise! Islamics? Trying to attack us here? NO way! What war on terror?!?
UPDATE — I see that the AP story has been updated since I first read it this morning, and they have now added the line quoted above from FOX News into their story.
Wayne at Babylonandon thinks the AP headline should have been more honest and read:
ISLAMIST TERRORISTS ARRESTED FOR PLANNING ATTACK ON FT. DIX!!!
______________
3..2..1…Countdown to the press conference and interviews with the friends and family of the accused terrorist-wanna-be’s, in which the friends and family describe them as “nice boys” and “wrongly accused”, and they would “never do anything like this”.
Uh-huh.
During those interviews, I hope somebody checks the friend’s and family member’s legal immigration status into our country.

Afternoon UPDATE: In an afternoon press conference, Sen. Harry Reid and Speaker Nancy Pelosi have stated that the only way to deal with the terrorists in New Jersey is for all Americans to retreat from the Garden State. “If we just leave the quagmire that is New Jersey, then the terrorist will leave us alone,” said Speaker Pelosi.
An “Out of Jersey” protest march is being planned by Code Pink.

3..2..1…Countdown to
Preston changing the subject.
I wonder how the mainstream media will handle this one. Probably passing mention if any at all about being illegally here. But, it better well be a damn wake up call for all the people in this country both with regard to terrorists and illegal aliens.
How utterly indefensible.
Unless you consider the fact that AP publishes stories as DETAILS BECOME AVAILABLE. Unlike bloggers, journalists can’t go out on a limb and identify these men as Muslims or Islamic radical suntil they have proof.
Check other stories on the event as it unfolded. The more information became available, the more you notice the words “Muslim” “Islamic” and “Radical” appearing.
Look at it this way: if the AP published a story about three white men from Texas dragging a black man by chains attached to their pickup truck until he was decapitated, you’d scream bloody murder if they insinuated that the men were “republican” or “conservative”.
The initial reports were that a clerk saw a video of a bunch of guys firing weapons and calling for jihad. That’s enough proof that they were radical muslims. Using your own analogy, if three white men wearing white sheets and hoods dragged a black man, it is safe to call them white supremacists. That you used “republican” or “conservative” is a non sequitur.
How much time do you think it took the original AP story to break? One hour after the incident? Less?
It’s entirely reasonable, and in fact, prudent, that the AP would not publish a story referring to the men as Muslims before they had definitive proof. A clerk saying he saw a video with people talking about Jihad is not definitive proof. That’s a hearsay from a man who saw a tape that the reporter has not seen.
When the clerk’s story was backed up and the background of the accused was investigated further, the story became more specific. The same AP article appeared in the Daily Texan today, and used the word “muslim” several times.
You publish the FACTS you have, not what stands to reason. Don’t quit your day job.
PS: Using my analogy it would be be comprable to claiming that three white men dragging a black man behind their truck were white supremacists. Which of course, is unverifiable with only that information at hand. Do they know the man? Are they in bad standing with him? Is it entirely possible they are dragging him because of a reason other than his race? Absolutely, and it’s irresponsible to publish anything to the contrary UNTIL IT IS VERIFIED AS FACT.
The AP verified the details, and changed the article. Stop your fucking bitching.
