Denial of Service Attack from Denmark

Sorry about the outages today — you’ve probably noticed the intermittent “Account Suspended” message if you’ve tried to access my blog today.

According to the tech support guy at my hosting provider, my site has been under a heavy Denial of Service attack from an IP that resolves to Denmark.

My hosting provider has blocked the offending IP from their firewall, and they think that will solve the problem.

I’m not sure if the attack is from Danish Muslims offended by me posting pictures of the Mohammad cartoon (or just being critical of Islam in general). Or it could be my rather large and vocal group of anti-death penalty zealots from Denmark.

I’m not sure.

I still have some back-end database work to do tonight to optimize the site’s performance, but hopefully by tomorrow morning it’ll all be smoothed out.

It might also be time to start thinking about using a dedicated server rather than the shared server I’m currently on.

Well, let’s get this straightened out already… I feel like I’m missing something if I’m not realtime with Preston and Adam.

Jeeze, KW, do you actually read our rantings? I think the Danish were just trying to shut us up.
