Robert Joseph, a backup safety on the University of Texas football team was arrested on Saturday here in Austin.
Guess what time it was?
Joseph was booked into the Travis County Jail at 4:36 a.m. Saturday. According to the arrest affidavit, an off-duty police officer, working security for the Omni Hotel, received a complaint that someone was beating on cars in the hotel’s parking garage.
The officer first found Joseph sitting in the front seat of a Mercedes, which was registered to a man from Farmersville. While the officer was trying to determine who owned the car, Joseph ran away. He was located later sitting inside a Dodge Caliber, which was owned by a Georgetown man.
“Hopefully, we’ll find that the reason behind this didn’t involve criminal behavior,” said Jamie Balagia, Joseph’s attorney.
Joseph was charged with two separate Class A misdemeanors for burglary of a vehicle. Each charge is punishable by up to a year in state jail, a fine not to exceed $4,000 and up to two years of community service. His bond was set at $3,000 per charge.
As I’ve stated before, nothing good happens at 4:00 a.m.
