CNN: Unequal Treatment of the “Second Tier” Candidates

Remember all the whining and protestations from the Left about the prospect of Fox News hosting Democratic debates?

One of the chief (and unfounded) complaints was that Dems wouldn’t get fair treatment on Fox News (despite being able to dictate the format and the moderators).

Well, after last night’s debates in New Hampshire, it looks like CNN is the channel that Dems should have boycotted;

Although all eight Democratic candidates participated, debate sponsors deliberately put Clinton, Obama and Edwards next to each other, and they took much of the limelight.

Which lead to a ridiculous disparity in the amount of time each candidate was given to respond to questions (check out Chris Dodd’s talk clock). Obama, Clinton, and Edwards were the only three candidate that had more airtime than Wolf Blitzer, who I didn’t even know was running for President.

Of course you could make the argument that the “second tier” candidates shouldn’t even be in the debates at this point — since there is 0% chance one of them will get the nomination, we should just focus on the Top 3 (BTW, I don’t subscribe to this argument, and think that the stage should be filled with all candidates, who are each given equal time and opportunity during the debates).
