Remember SSgt Michelle Manhart?
She was the Air Force Drill Sergeant who was dismissed from the Air Force (honorably) after posing in Playboy magazine.
Well, she’s back in the news again for taking her clothes off. From the Air Force Times:
Michelle Manhart, now honorably discharged, is the cover model of “Camouflage: Pin-up 2008,†a project by the three-years-running “Operation: Calendar†project that donates much of its profits to wounded veterans and their families. The project was started by Manuela Mezzadri, a San Diego model, after spending time with injured veterans.
“You hear a lot about the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice,†said Manhart, who claims a large troop following. “But you hear less about the wounded.â€
In lieu of wearing clothing, each model was photographed nude with body paint expertly applied to look like swimwear. Manhart appears on top of a Vespa scooter, framed by palm fronds, with a painted-on pink, polka-dotted two-piece.
Good for her.
Now that she is no longer subject to the rules and code of conduct required of the military she is free to pursue her modeling interests, while still supporting the troops.
The calendar can be ordered online at http://www.operationcalendar.org for $12.99.
___________
In From the Cold isn’t quite as charitable about Ms. Manhart’s intentions:
Clearly, Manhart is an adult, she’s no longer a military member and she can do as she pleases. But this calendar gig is less about helping our wounded warriors and more about advancing her so-called show business career. Maybe we missed it, but there was nothing in the Air Force Times piece about Manhart donating her modeling fee to the troops or organizations that supposedly benefit from the project.
Judging from her past appearance in Playboy (in defiance of military orders) and now, her calendar pose, it seems the real “cause” that Manhart wants to advance is her own. There are a number of worthy groups that provide real support for wounded members of the armed services, and we’re sure that her local USO chapter, VA facility or military hospital would welcome another volunteer. But then again, doing “real” charity work for the troops doesn’t pay as well–or attract as much publicity–as posing in a painted-on bikini, atop a Vespa scooter.
Ouch. But I think he might be spot on.

Of course Ms Manhart wasn’t paid at all for this photograph. The ‘In from the cold’ guy is a jerk, and if he’s ever been in the military I’ll lay a dollar to a donut he’s a hypocrite also.
What a jackass: he doesn’t even know if Manhart was paid or what she did with any procedes from modeling- just that it wasn’t reported in the newspaper. I suppose that’s cause enough for slander…
In any case it’s mighty generous of ‘In From the Cold’ to pledge someone else’s money to aid injured troops.
Did anyone notice her name …. MAN HART
Just thought I’d throw that in .. lol
I posted the first post, which registered as ‘Anonymous’ for some reason.
I mention it because I want to be on record whenever I agree with Preston.
Oh, and I just ordered my calender.
In this article, Michelle tells us why she believes in Operation Calendar and why we need to give back
