Mudcat Saunders — The Nutroots Eating Their Own

Dave “Mudcat” Saunders is a bona fide Liberal — a “firebrand critic of the lack of economic fairness in rural and working class America and the rural liaison for John Edwards.”

Yesterday he wrote a blog post at TIME’s Swampland excoriating Liberals for their intolerance and uncivil discourse towards those with opposing opinions within their won party:

I have bitched and moaned for years about the lack of tolerance in the elitist wing of the Democratic Party, or what I refer to as the “Metropolitan Opera Wing”. These are the people who talk of tolerance but the only true tolerance they ever exhibit is for their own pseudo-intellectual arrogance.

And how did the Left react to his post? With intolerance, vitriol, and unhinged hate — go read the comments section of that post for much more like this:

Way to buy into the right-wing spin on the left wing of the Party, you useless, lying tool.

And, you are precisely the kind of person most of us despise.

So do us a favor. Explain to whatever moron thought it would be a good idea to have you guest-blog this week that it ISN’T a good idea — that you have nothing to contribute here, and we have nothing to say to you that can be honestly expressed in a civil manner.

Mudcat has tried to defend himself in a follow-up post — but the nutroots is giving him both barrels for having the temerity to call them uncivil and intolerant.

Do they even realize that they are proving his point?
