So Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has decided to persue powers that the Constitution does not allow Congress — the very the nature of executive privilege — by issuing contempt citations to Joshua B. Bolten, White House chief of staff, and Harriet E. Miers, former White House counsel.
From Captain Ed:
Absent any evidence of criminal conduct, the Supreme Court is highly unlikely to grant the legislative branch free rein to pursue contempt charges or to undo executive privilege. Nancy Pelosi will in all likelihood force a ruling that will firmly establish executive privilege and leave Congress with less power than it has had, after having finally called its own bluff.
Back in October of 2006, I answered the following question, “If they win the House of Representatives, will the Democrats embark on a two-year binge of investigations and score-settling? Or will they get serious about solving the country’s problems?” like this:
You can put your money on “investigations and score settling†because the Democrats don’t have any actual plans.
So far, other than passing a mostly meaningless minimum wage increase, Congress has done nothing but go out on vendettas and witch hunts.
Is it any wonder that they are the worst Congress ever (if they doubled their approval rating, it would still be lower than President Bush’s rating)?
And once again Democrats are busying themselves with attacking the President instead of legislating change for the good of the country.
The only possible explanation is that this Congress is trying for single digit approval ratings.

The Democrats have done nothing? Did you forget about Harry Reid’s little slumber party?
Not only are the Democrats lacking actual plans to even address the country’s problems, they can’t do anything except meaningless political stunts because they’re beholden to the lefty nutroots. They’ve cast their 2008 political lot with the radical left.
