Apologies for the lack of posting yesterday —
I was in the garage all afternoon and evening performing the 600 Mile Service on my motorcycle (new motorcycles have to be broken in, with an early service required) — which mostly entailed changing the oil and oil filter, changing the transfer case oil, synchronizing the throttle bodies, and putting a wrench to all the bolts to ensure nothing has rattled loose in the first 600 miles.
- The total cost of all supplies (new oil, new filter, and a couple of new tools): $36.
- How much the dealership would have charged me (parts and labor) to perform the 600-mile service: $250
- The peace of mind knowing that the job was done correctly and completely: priceless
I’ve read Robert M. Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance twice, and I really do get a sense of Zen from working on my own bikes.

I’ll get back to regular blogging this afternoon.

The intertubes were hopping yesterday.
