Yeah, nothing about this paragraph suggests global climate change:

The rainfall at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport through Friday is the largest year-to-date total recorded there, according to Dennis Cook, a National Weather Service meteorologist. The norm for that time period is about 19 inches of rain. This year, the airport has gotten almost double that: 36.38 inches as of Friday morning.

And nothing about it suggests that all this rain has been the result of “man made” global weather changes.

It’s just the weather. Man has about as much affect on it as we do on gravity.

I’m not in a position to know whether or not climate change is man-made though I’m more inclined to take the word of meteorologists and other scientists than that of right wing think tanks.

In any case, your attempt to turn the freakishly unusual weather you’ve been experiencing into a case that “everything’s ok” looks like wishful thinking. (Though if I lived in Texas, that’s just the kind of climate change I could get behind…)

Actually, New York has had a nice streatch of moderate weather recently too- just when I started skiing again…

What I’ve heard is that US weather patterns haven’t changed in recent decades as much as other places in the world- which might account for American resistance to the theory.

Global warming is occurring but it is most like caused by solar cycles. In the late 1600’s and early 1700’s Europe went through a mini-ice age. This period corresponded to extremely low sunspot activity which has been named the Maunder Minimum. Another period of low solar activity occured in the early 1800’s. The period is dubbed the Dalton Minimum. During this period the temperatures again dropped substantially in europe. This produced the Dickinsonian winters during which unusually harsh winters produced snow in London England. For the past 30 years the sun has been very active. This evidently has been heating up the earth. The sun is currently at the bottom of a solar cycle. There is very little solar activity. The beggining of the next cycle has not been forth comming. It is predicted that the next cycle will be delayed til next march. This could portend a very cold winter this year. Australia, South America and South Africa are presently experiencing their coldest winters in 50 years (dont see mention of this in the main stream media). This cold spell in the southern hemisphere is not a mere blip. It is lasting month after month and is geograhically widespread. Many people have died because of the cold. Yet there was no mention of it in the mainstream. Deaths in Romania due to heat have been trumpeted however.

Found this ‘buried’ on the internet today from the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology. The biased media didn’t even report it.

“Record low daily maximum temperatures were widespread through the tropics. The areas that were spared included the Cape York Peninsula, the Pilbara and the Queensland coast north of Townsville. In total, more than 31 per cent of the land area of Australia recorded lowest maximum temperatures for June.

“Maximum temperatures below 10ºC were widespread on 20 June to an extent never previously seen in tropical Australia.”

Here’s how cold it was:

Since records began there have only been 12 instances where reporting stations in tropical Australia failed to reach 10ºC and never two on any single day.

On June 20th, 2007 Fourteen different stations failed to reach 10ºC!! That statistic was more than doubled in only one day!!!

Northernmost instance of a maximum under 10ºº also occurred at Tennant Creek (19ºS) – 8ºC (46ºF)

To put this in perspective the southern Yucatan Peninsula is its northern hemisphere latitudinal equivalent.
