Any kind of hate crime legislation is bullshit because it supposes that the motivation for a crime should, for some reason, have a bearing on the punishment. Why should somebody who shoots a man because he hates black people be locked up longer than somebody who shoots a man because he slept with his wife?

If you really look at the ethos of a “hate crime” argument, it hinges on the conviction that you can make beliefs, however racist or intolerable they may be, illegal.

One thing I’ll never understand is how people can be so selective in what types of censorship they oppose. For me, it’s all or nothing.

This statement by you is actually a good argument for hate crime legislation. It indicates that you would be a racially biased (or at least poor) juror because you see no difference in these 2 scenarios.

Hate crime laws aren’t censorship. I assume that you are proposing that the law may indirectly censor free speech in this Koran case. However, not revealed in the AP report is that the accused was videotaped stealing from the Muslim Student Assn the Korans he presumably flushed. In that case, flushing the Korans per se is not the crime and shouldn’t be. If that is the case, I agree that we have a big problem. Again, remember this is a badly written article concerning an arrest. The case hasn’t been abjudicated. Indeed, charges against the guy can be dropped or added as new facts emerge. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I support hate crime legislation. The analogy using murder is wrong in that anyone who guns down anyone and kills them execution style deserves the death penalty and no higher punishment can be imposed with or without hate crime legislation.

I think you are making an incorrect comparison between the flag of America and a religious symbol. America is just America whereas a religious symbol is universal and held dearly by peoples of many nations.

Naturally this means that unlike the Quran, not ALL hadiths are authentic; that is not say we refute hadiths, only that we are wary as to the authenticity of a hadith before we use that as a basis for religious studies- and there are scholars and the like who verify the authenticity of Hadeeths.

HENCE, you can not go pasting every hadith you find (Especially from Anti-islam sites) you have no right to do this, and do NOT have the credentials , in the same way a pastor or preist would be more knowledgable in matters of christainity, than a man on the street.

Thirdly, since you keep on mentioning the marriage of Aisha to prophet Muhammed, i’d like to address it. And for the record the prophet did NOT re-marry again until AFTER Khadija passed away. Furthermore, yes the prophet did marry Aisha at a young age, but you must understand that this was socially and culturally acceptable at that time. Hence you need not take things out of context, for example sacarring of the face and body is revered and found as a symbol of beauty in some african tribes, whereas in the west it is looked down upon- so please refrain from defaming the prophet.
The rest of the prophet’s wives, i wont go into detail here,but i’ll tell you this: the majority of them were either destitute or widows and thus he prophet married them to HELP them and not to satisfy himself, in fact many were in old age.

Ive been reading everything around here about Islam, and I am Very disappointed of what i used to be.

El Hamdlilah God has opened my heart, to Islam.

The only reason i accepted Islam is because someone that i really trusted in which whom was my priest embraced Islam, and he took his time to explain to me everything. I was crying and moaning after a few minutes of what i heard, and couldn’t help it but i not only embraced Islam but my christian wife left me and took all 3 kids with her.

I kept asking God for his mercy, and after 3 years, i’m living with my Muslim wife and all my 3 kids. ALL of them embraced Islam.

And please for you people that translate the quran, you have to read the whole Surah and not cut ayat from it.

Inshallah (If God wills) He will open your hearts to what is right and what is wrong.

Please remember that if their was one American terrorist doesn’t mean we are all terrorists, same goes for the Muslims that i have faulted in my early lives.

Firstly (in principle) burning a flag is not only stupid, it’s wrong and offensive too. So is burning religious text from any religion; any religious person considers that the word of God. The point most people seem to be missing is that instead of sayin ”flushing a Quran shouldn’t be made a hate crime” we should say ”burning the american flag SHOULD be made a hate crime” -what I mean is is that they are both hate crimes. Because if anyone ever flushed a Quran they would do it because they hate muslims. Also, if anyone burnt the american flag it should be made a hate crime for the same reason; anyone who ever burns an american flag would only do it because they hate america. Secondly, I find it disgusting how (as I presume some of you are adults) grown men and women can say such sick, offensive things to each other instead of dealing with that dudes (understandably) annoyed point of view in a mature way.

No religion (especially Islam seeing as I’ve studied it for years) encourages hatred of any other race/religion – I know that it is against Islam to insult other people/their religion in the way that I have seen some people do on this page- it’s wrong and an anti-islamic thing to do.

For those who don’t know; Islam means peace. Unfotunately some muslims don’t behave in a peaceful way and they are similar to many non-muslims who also behave in hateful ways.

Elections come and go, elected officials come and go, but our Constitution is forever, and those who try and violate it and take our power away, usually get defeated in an election.
I have talked with many people from Europe, and the UK, and they are totally dismayed with how terrible the government there is, and even more worried that the Lisbon Treaty will still pass, eventhough Ireland voted no.
You have to understand how big this country is, and how different people can be from one side to the other. I really don’t give a flip about New York, but hope they like it there, so they won’t move to Texas, like so many New Yorkers have, and bring their disgusting habits with them. California? The sooner an earthquake comes, and washes that hell-hole away, the better.

However, I don’t know of any instances where those groups have called for a caliph or a Global Hirabah, haven’t flown planes filled with people into tall buildings filled with people, set off bombs in crowded tubes, buses, or trains, or beheaded innocent people. So my concerns over their practices are just a matter of choice. Not with islam, there have been over 12,622 islamic terrorist attacks since 9-11, and therefore, islam reserves a special place as the most destructive belief system on Earth.

Wudhu (often translated as “ablution”) is the Muslim act of washing parts of the body, in clean water, as a part of the preparation for prayer, Salaat. Wudhu is often translated as “partial ablution,” as opposed to ghusl, or “full ablution.”

The ideal form is done with water. One first silently makes the niya or intention to perform wudhu and cleanse himself of his impurities. He begins by saying bishm’allah (“In the Name of Allah”). The actions of wudhu follow:

1. Wash the right hand up the wrist three times, then the left hand.

2. Suck water into the mouth and spit it out three times.

7.With wet fingers, place thumbs at backs of ears, use index finger on curves of ear and middle finger to wash the ears. This is only done once.

8.Starting with the right foot, wash both feet including the ankles.

Theoretically one can do one wudu for fajr salaat and be okay for the rest of the day, but certain things invalidate the ablution. They are:

1. “When urine, stool, gas, blood and anything which comes out of the 2 private parts is discharged.” Don’t fart. You have to bath afterwards. We Muslims are so much cleaner than you filthy Jews who go around farting and not washing afterwards!

2.Sleep.

3. “Losing one’s mind or reason by ingesting intoxicants, drugs, or for any other reason [not including seeing a filthy Jew and getting really really angry]…”

4. “Touching, with bare hands, one’s own sexual organs with lust.”. Wear gloves when beating the bishop, infidels, and don’t let any liquid come out!

5. Touching a member of the opposite sex, according to Shafi’i, see below. Rooting members of the same sex may not break Wudhu in the absence of orgasm, praise Allah! Abu Hanifa interpreted “touched the women” to mean sexual intercourse, whereas Shafi’i interpreted it literally, meaning one must make wudu after making physical contact with a member of the opposite sex.

If water is unavailable or the amount available is insufficient, one may perform tayammum, or “dry ablution.” Basically involves “washing” yourself with sand, like chickens do, praise Allah – yet more proof of the perfection of Allah!

Consider Verse 6 of Surah 5 (al-ma’ida) of the Noble Quaran:

“O you who believe! when you rise up to prayer, wash your faces and your hands as far as the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles; and if you are under an obligation to perform a total ablution, then wash (yourselves) and if you are sick or on a journey, or one of you come from the privy, or you have touched the women, and you cannot find water, betake yourselves to pure earth and wipe your faces and your hands therewith, Allah does not desire to put on you any difficulty, but He wishes to purify you and that He may complete His favor on you, so that you may be grateful.”
