When Karl Rove announced his retirement, the editorial and writing staff of the Seattle Times started cheering.
Much to his credit, Executive Editor Dave Boardman openly and publicly criticized his staff:
Times editor Dave Boardman was unhappy with the outburst and wrote a note to the staff reminding them to keep their political views to themselves.

But more importantly, reporters should not be cheering. I have zero doubt about that. When you become cheerleaders for the Democrats, as an example, you will soon find yourself only talking to people who agree with you.
He’s right of course. Though he does let slip his own opinion when he describes the Bush Administration as being in it’s “final throes”.
