Liberals everywhere start their crying

Thanks to reader KMA for the tip that Jose Padilla has been found GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY of being a homegrown, jihadi-wannabe terrorist.

I’m sure the Liberal and terror-sympathizing (and co-conspirators like CAIR) groups are already flying off the handle about this righteous verdict.

And, on KMA’s suggestion, I went and checked out the reactions at the “pragmatic” DailyKos (thanks, Preston…that term will probably be used a lot around here for awhile).

Some typical reactions from the writhing reactionaries:

  • That a dirty bomb is not even possible. I believe the Pentagon came up with that assessment, as well.”
  • That Was After He Was Tortured Insane! Who knows what might have happened, had Padilla had a typical trial.”
  • Mr. Padilla did nothing wrong….he neither killed or maimed anyone which is what prosecutors said he had signed up to learn…and yet what was done to him is reprehensible
  • This verdict just makes me truly sick. I was so hoping that the jury would uphold law and decency”
  • “If he’s found guilty, then basically we’ve given the government permission to torture us into insanity so we can “confess”.”
  • “I admit I was hoping he would be found not guilty”

Sigh.

Padilla wanted to kill these KozKids (and me and you too) in their sleep. And they’re coming unhinged because he was found guilty of…[pause for rhetorical effect]…wanting to kill them in their sleep.

The left is worried that there will be much gloating from the “wingnutia”.

Damn right I’m gloating.

MORE Moonbattery:

From Firedoglake — one of the commenters hopes that innocent American citizens (the prosecutors and members of the jury) are tortured:

Nothing would be more satisfying that subjecting the prosecutors and jury to the same mind-destroying tactics that were used on Padilla

Christy Hardin Smith does come in and rebuke the writer, but only because she’s worried about the legal ramifications.

And over at the ironically-named Moderate Voice:

It’s tough to be critical of your own government. Everyone usually thinks they are the good guys.

Eh, asshole — our own government is the good guys. The Islamic terrorists are the bad guys. Why do moonbats have such a hard time with that distinction?

Question their patriotism? You bet your ass I do.

Indeed, they are. Have you seen the flyin’ Iman video over at Ace’s?

Yikes! Huffpo is just as bad as kos. lol

Why? Why do they want our enemies to win?

If some liberal cares to answer …..

I’m dumbfounded.

You should send this to Fox, Robbie.

Was there any evidence of torture introduced at the trial? No. Any motions to suppress evidence because it was obtained as a result of torture or coercion of Padilla? No. Did the defense cross exam the government wits about torturing Padilla? No. You have to have a factual basis for questioning. Did Padilla take the stand and complain about being tortured? No.

Robbie, my friend, you shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss those on the Left on this issue. It does raise an interesting question regarding torture: if we torture convicted terrorists, then how can we say that their admissions of guilt weren’t simply forced out of them?

Don’t get me wrong. I harbor no sympathy at all towards this despicable worm, and his butt-buddies in G-Bay, and I’m sure that torturing these murderers does provide us with valuable info, but perhaps these trials should be taken to the criminal courts stateside and settled under laws of the US Constitution?

Don’t get me wrong. I harbor no sympathy at all towards this despicable worm, and his butt-buddies in G-Bay

Obviously, you do since you are spreading misinformation. No one was tortured. We do not try POWs. However, the USSC said we had to try U.S. citizens and we have. And, have you considered that we are less interested in guilt and most interested in obtaining information to stop future attacks?

Hey KMA, cool your jets. I know that we engage in things like waterboarding in G-Bay in order to obtain information, and I was using the Padilla case as a springboard regarding the credibility of torture induced confessions.

Also, I think that we absolutely should be interested in guilt. If we torture innocent people in order to obtain information, then we will only get useless information that will be counterproductive.

I’m still sitting on the fence on the torture issue. If torture provides info that stops terrorists more than it provides bad info, then I would be for it. However, I don’t know that it does, so I was just raising a question about it that troubles me.

Cool your own jets. Where is your proof that waterboarding is torture? Where is your proof that Padilla was tortured?

KMA, I guess we differ on our definition of torture. Waterboarding is holding an individual’s head below water almost to the point that they drown. I consider that torture, and you don’t, so in this case we will just have to agree to disagree, ok?

I never specifically claimed that Padilla was tortured, but I do know that some detainees are tortured by methods such as waterboarding. Therefore, confessions obtained by those detainees are of questionable value, in my opinion. If Padilla wasn’t tortured, then I don’t question his confession.

I know what waterboarding is, it is not illegal, and it is not torture. You need to get your info from somewhere other than Indymedia.

it’s not!!? Damn it is here! must be a Texan thingy lol

Must be why the UK has had numerous terrrorist attacks and your citizens blown up.

Got something you want to say?
