Michael Vick, the (former) QB for the Atlanta Falcons and a soon-to-be confessed dog killer, will have his plea sentence revealed on Monday.
It’s expected that the former Virginia Tech Thug will have to serve 18-36 months for his role in financing, promoting, and gambling on dog fights from a home he owns. Additionally, 3 of Vick’s ‘boyz have rolled on him and have all stated that Vick took part in the brutal and inhumane execution of at least 8 dogs. It’s also reported that Vick was aware of and instructed his ‘boyz to go out into the community in search of bait dogs.
And all of this has been going on for at least 6 years.
Vick’s not sorry for what he did. In fact, I believe that deep down he doesn’t really believe that there is anything wrong with what he did. He’s just sorry he got caught.
But despite the fact that this makes Vick a sick piece of shit — guess who has stepped up to defend him?
That’s right: the NAACP, who is imploring the NFL to “go easy” on Vick. And why does the NAACP think Vick should get leniency from the NFL?
- Because they think he is innocent of all the charges against him? No (hopefully not, since Vick is pleading guilty).
- Because they think that Vick is genuinely sorry for what he did, and has learned a valuable lesson about the inhumanity of torturing and executing dogs? No.
- Because Vick is a great QB? Haha ahahah haha hahaha! Uh…sorry. No.
No. The NAACP thinks that Vick should get a slap on the wrist (and millions upon millions of dollars for the privilege of resuming his NFL career) for one reason and one reason only: because he’s black.

The NAACP said Vick should get his job back with the Falcons after he serves his prison term because we should aid people’s rehabilitation. I have no problems with the concept. However, I don’t think it is private businesses duty to rehabilitate him, especially, if they are going to take a serious p.r. and financial hit for it. If the NAACP wants to give Vick a job after he is released from prison, I encourage them to do so.
