That subject Jon only knows about America from the movies and TV, comes as no great surprise.
As for the public school system, and it’s failings, it most certainly is the result of the Pathology of Liberalism.

In what he calls the psychopathology of the liberal mind, Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr., M.D., a psychiatrist and the author of The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness,” says:

“In his determination to control the world, [the liberal] constantly defends himself against what Karen Horney aptly described as the most basic of human fears: being alone and helpless in a dangerous, indifferent world, the nightmare of the abandoned, terrified child. Persons plagued with such fears easily conclude that it is in their greatest interest to dominate others, or to imagine that they can, and to set about achieving that goal through the manipulation of government power.”

And what does this domination and manipulation lead to? Rossiter says it is nothing less than the “liberal agenda’s principles of coercive collectivism [in which] the citizen’s choices will be influenced by ideals of entitlement, welfare dependency, state regulation [and] moral relativism.”

The liberal, Rossiter adds, is “not called to maturity but is instead invited to begin a second childhood. Like the child at play, he is given, or at least promised, ultimate economic, social and political security without having to assume responsibility for himself.”

Ooh! That one’s going to leave a mark.

Ok no2liberals, I completely hear what you are saying thanks. and of course other waves have held on to their culture and ways, I have that too in my families distant past..there is nothing wrong with celebrating where you came from. but don’t ask the country that has taken you in to become where you left..the obvious question is then why did you leave.?? and yes in the past the Italians, Polish, Germans, Irish, etc. had their communities and enclaves…perfectly acceptable. but in the past they also wanted to meld in and become Americans. in most cases they totally shed their old country ways. it is a myth to think that all the former waves held on tightly to their culture. most people got off the boats and did not even keep their old world names…they became “John Smith” instead of “Hans Uberhoff” and willingly thru themselves into Americas embrace and worked hard to be just an American…and yes they might have privately celebrated their culture with their family and friends…but first and foremost they fit in with the idea of “American” first, old world ways second. they did not shove where they came from down the throats of everyone in society. they did not ask the school system to teach their kids in their language, they did not ask for government documents to be in their language and when it was not demand to have 5 translators on the spot or a law suit will ensue…America can only survive if we have something that unifies us all together like say a language and history…we are losing that quickly. what I see about this current wave is its the exact opposite of the past. they are “whatever else” first then maybe American after if they get around to it..almost with contempt that the “American” is pushing it’s culture on them…what the heck is that?? I truly don’t get it. If you are so darn proud of your culture then how could you just leave your country behind..hey why not fix whats wrong in your country and then everyone is happy..not just high tail it to America and bleed our hospitals and schools dry.. in my family we don’t celebrate any other culture..it is just America. it was never even talked about and I am like everyone else from somewhere else. and you have to be honest, when in the past has one culture come over in such vast numbers in such a short time??? answer: never. we can’t absorb 20-40 million people in a couple of decades. of course they are not melding, we Americans are not making them. that is the problem…also no other country on the planet lets a baby be born with neither parent being native and the child automatically becomes a citizen..that’s crazy…that might have once been useful for population reasons but it has now become a noose around our necks. so many women on the border wait until their baby is about to be born, then pay someone to drive them to the nearest American hospital so the baby, along with mom and dad, can get all the benefits….have we lost our minds as a country???? judging if by nothing other than this…I say YES!!!
I completely blame the rudderless ship America has become on our lack of leaders with backbone. our elected leaders are weak and corrupt, both parties, completely and to the bone. what we need is new blood and someone who is independent who will do the right thing simply because it is the right thing..here again I have to be a realist….not gonna happen. the very process a person has to go thru to become an elected leader strips away all common sense out of that person. the money and power makes them drunk for more and it becomes all they stay in office for. believe me I wish I was wrong. but I honestly think this is the way things are. and unless by some miracle a person with a true patriotic backbone comes along and very soon, you can say goodbye to the old ideal of America.
