In case you missed it, Miss Upton was asked a pretty simple geography question during the recent Miss Teen USA pageant. Her answer made many question the educational system in South Carolina:

She had a brain fart. If you listened to what she said, it made no sense at all….it wasn’t even rational. Probably all happened as a result of anxiety.

Well, you’re not and you claim to be, gasp, a teacher! God Save the Children of England! lol
yes it was funny. But keep in mind these girls have most likely been doing this since they were children, that’s how you get to this level. So I am not sure I buy the nervous thing assuming she has been in pageants for years. I think she did not have an answer and just started taking in her pageant-speak. which means throw in key phrases, the appropriate PC gibberish, and out comes some nonsense. These pageants are silly anyway that’s why they keep having trouble finding channels to broadcast them on. Unfortunately she might be one of these that can’t find the us on the map based on her answer. Her answer should have been short and to the point: The US educational system has chosen to focus on self esteem based results and not hard knowledge thru repetition and letter grades.
Instead we have chosen to dumb down learning so the really slow people don’t feel so bad. End result most kids don’t learn much that is of any real use in the world..we need to take lessons from the past. how did we turn out so many brilliant thinkers, writers, scientists 50 years ago?? surely not teaching kids the way we do today.
Well, at the risk of sounding like a moralistic fairy tale, I see beauty from within.
Don’t get me wrong, looks are pretty cool, but if I was to talk to someone like this for less than a nano second, i’d move on.
I’m happy to be with a hardworing nurse in the UK, who just happens to be a blonde with a 36 28 34 frame.
Could I have prayed for better? Maybe not……. brains and beauty………perfect

The guy goes out of his way to not mock the intelligence of a girl who in all likelihood is dumb as rocks an you interepret that as bragging about his education? Come on, man, you don’t have to fight the partisan fight all day long!
(By the way a PhD is something to brag about. Or so my wife tells me
