Uncle Jimbo at Blackfive wonders if Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is the biggest ass in the Senate. What’s the anti-military Senator up to this time?
Well, he’s trying to make the case that even though the surge is working, neither our President nor the troops deserve any credit:
The violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from al Qaeda, said to these tribes: “We have to fight al Qaeda ourselves.”
Schumer has never had a real job — he’s been a politician his entire life since graduating from Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
Having never had the integrity or the courage to serve in the military himself, the very least this ungrateful asswipe could do is say “thank you” to the better and braver men then himself who are putting their lives on the line every day to protect his freedoms and security.
But instead he prefers to malign and denigrate their service at every possible opportunity.
So, to answer Uncle Jimbo — yes, in a room full of pompous assholes, Schumer is quite possibly the biggest asshole in the bunch (though Kennedy, Durbin, and Reid are in the running).

OTHERS:
Asserting that the sacrifice of the American troops has been futile and their efforts in vain is an astonishing and vile statement for a sitting member of the United States Senate to make.
Not only is Schumer calling the American military incompetent, he’s calling them liars, as well.
After calling our troops Nazis, war criminals, and monsters, they’re [Democrats] now going to the floor of the Senate to make the case that the troops are incompetent. You see, the violence in Iraq is going down not because of the troops, but inspite of them.
And let me point out that Schumer voted for this war. He sent the troops to Iraq. Now he derides their achievements. The man has no shame.

Calling the military incompetent (however wrong that opinion may be) is not anti-military. You’re treading a very fine line here when you prohibit criticism of the military.
The fact that he never served himself has nothing to do with anything. I could call my doctor incompetent if he screws me up, but I don’t have to be a doctor to do that.
