General David PetraeusI don’t have much to say on the content of General Petraeus’ report to Congress on the status of affairs in Iraq.

To be honest, I haven’t read it (as most of you haven’t either).

I trust and believe in the decisions, integrity, and dedication to our nation from a career military General more than I do any single civilian alive.

And yes, that includes my own mother.

If Gen. Petraeus says the surge is working and that he needs more time, then I’ll take his word on it. If he says he can envision a window and timeframe for a draw-down, I’ll support that too.

I’ll keep supporting the troops and their mission as long as General Petraeus says he needs to get the job done. And then I’ll support them some more.

Unlike the despicable assholes of MoveOn.org, who think that General Petraeus is a liar and a traitor. Sadly, the Democrats who took money and are paid and bought for by MoveOn won’t be returning the money (since they’ve already had to guilted into returning the dirty Hsu money) that MoveOn has lined their coffers with.

If you want to see what others on both sides of the aisles are saying about the report, check Memeorandum.

__________

Here’s the one of the very few civilians (though he is a former Special Forces soldier, and is currently embedded with our troops in Iraq) whose opinion and thoughts on the report I’ll respect and consider: Michael Yon.

Thomas Sowell gets it, too:

Sometimes I feel as if I must be one of the few people left in America who is not a military expert.

For example, all sorts of politicians have been talking about all sorts of ways we ought to “redeploy” our troops. The closest I ever came to deploying troops was marching a company of Marines to the mess hall for chow.

But people who have never even put on a uniform are confident that they know how our troops should be redeployed. Maybe this is one of the fruits of the “self-esteem” that is taught in our schools instead of education.

The biggest flurry of amateur military pronouncements occurred just before General David Petraeus testified before Congress on the situation in Iraq. Many Democrats publicly dismissed what he said before he said it, and some implied that he was a liar before he opened his mouth.

From another fine (former) military man whose opinion I respect and value, Blackfive:

Man, if I hear one more politician say “With all due respect” and then show none at all…[to General Petraeus]

Excellent post! I’ve watched part of the actual hearings and all of the interview with Brit Hume. I came away from both of those with a great deal of respect for both the General and Ambassador and NO respect for those idiots in Congress who chose to listen with their fingers in their ears - hell bent in calling these men liars! What a terrible disgrace it is to have our elected leaders put politics ahead of everything else.

…and I thought Rumsfeld was ousted because he didn’t listen to the generals.

Excuse me, my sides are starting to hurt.

Jeez! I’m watching the hearings again and have decided that there is no good reason for Byrd to continue to breathe! He can barely read his own questions and has no interest in the answer! Where do they find these dimwits???

Henh.
Yeah, the liberal Congress Critters respect…I got your respect right here!
When I look at the large number of verbose misfits, that represent the left in Congress, questioning the courage, honor, and integrity of a man like Gen. Petraeus, I can’t help but wonder about the people that vote for them.

Never forget, the anti-war left supports our troops.
