During lunch (brisket at Rudy’s Country Store and BBQ) today, I was perusing the news on my cell phone (yeah, I’m a dork that way).

I have Glenn Reynolds’ Instapundit bookmarked because it loads quickly and reads easily on my tiny cellphone screen.

When I saw the headline from Glenn that UAW was on strike, I spent about 3 minutes typing a response via my cell phone and posting it before I even finished my lunch. Soon thereafter Glenn linked to my post with a simple Ouch reference.

Before I’m even back to my desk, thousands upon thousands of new people around the world are reading my words, which were a mere passing thought a few minutes earlier.

And yes, I’m a dork for being amazed by that, too.

_______

By the way, this is my first Instalanch, and yes — it does make the hit counter spin like a toy top.

I’ve been linked several times by Michelle Malkin, the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, the Sydney Morning Herald, and CollegeHumor.com, and one of my loyal readers even plugged UrbanGrounds on C-SPAN once (thanks, Dianne).

But this seems much cooler (in a total nerd-blogger sort-of way) for whatever reason…

Hmmm, I’m not certain whether I’m more envious of the instalaunch, or the trip to Rudy’s :)

Congrats- that’s a nice blogiversary present.

(Without meaning to detract from your accomplishment can you explain instapundit for me? Do people read him because he links to so many different blogs or do they read him for his own commentary?)

It’s a pretty weird combination really — I read him more because of the first item you mentioned; since he links to so many items each day on such a wide range of topics, I mostly use the Instapundit site as a blog-news aggregator of sorts.

However, Glenn does have a subtle style of commentary that I enjoy and and is quick and easy to digest.

I just didn’t realize that “law professor” was a job that enjoyed so much down time. Of course, that’s probably true of just about any professorship.

Perhaps I should go back to school and get that PhD….

Got something you want to say?
