If you’re looking for a political cartoon that is all-too-happy to skewer our President, blast our troops, or make fun of patriots like the Minute Men — you don’t have to look to far; our editorial sections and the funny pages are filled with them.
Left-leaning editorial cartoons are a dime-a-dozen.
Political cartoons with a more conservative slant are much rarer and harder to fine, like this (from Sept. 12, 2006 — the day after the 5 year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks):
In the conservative blogosphere, we’ve been very fortunate to have the talents of Chris Day (Day-by-Day) and Cox & Forkum. But sadly, we’re losing one of them, as Cox & Forkum have announced that they will no longer be producing editorial cartoons:
Let me start by saying that quitting editorial cartooning has been one of my toughest decisions. Having such a creative outlet for expressing my opinions is immensely satisfying. It’s an art form I’ve admired for decades, so I do not take lightly having the opportunity to work in the medium and to have that work seen by others. One of my proudest moments came soon after 9/11 when I held in my hands our first published cartoon. It was easy to feel useless, even helpless, in the weeks and months following the attacks. But to be able to fight in the battle of ideas was empowering.
[snip]
I also want to stop focusing so much of my creative energy on negative aspects of daily life. There’s still an ideological battle to be fought, not to mention an actual war, and I will stay engaged in some form and medium. But at this point, anything seems more appealing than immersing myself in the sewer of daily politics.
I completely understand that sentiment, guys. There are days when I wonder how much longer I can keep this up, too. But — at least for now — as long as our politicians are dragging our daily politics down into the sewer — I’ll keep lambasting them for it.
Good luck in wherever life takes you from here, and thanks for the cartoons.

Dang!
Hate to hear that, they have done some fantastic work.
I especially liked their entry into the Mahmoud Ahmadamnazi’s Holocaust cartoon contest. They slammed Ol’Moh, and they never even knew it.
As for your blogging, don’t be discouraged. Do it to please yourself first, and as an archive, sort of like letters home, for future reference as to where your head was during the time you post.
I’ve only found your blog recently, and it’s refreshing to communicate on ideas and places we are familiar with.
You do good work!
