Flags pins are the mark of fake patriots…

So, if you wear a flag pin, you cannot be a true patriot. True patriots would never put those pins on their chests.

Not a smart move for Obama. In essence, he degraded the flag and in turn the country, the military and every citizen. I think he needs to take a few lessons from what happened to John Kerry. Hillary must be loving this.

I don’t understand what the big deal is.

I would vote for a patriot that will say what he believes, even if it is unpopular, over a guy wearing a flag pin any day.

I don’t think Obama in any way ‘degraded the flag’ or implied that the troops aren’t patriots. He simply said that wearing a flag PIN doesn’t make you a patriot. I agree.

That is the same reason I don’t have a ‘Support our troops’ magnet on my car. That’s not how you support the troops. If you want to ’support’ them, there are far better ways to do it. Show respect to the troops, say ‘thank you’, write a letter…

But a magnet, or a lapel pin, doesn’t make you a patriot.

I don’t care if B. Hussein Obama wears a flag pin or not, most of the Dhimmicrat candidates don’t. I care that he or they could seriously be considered as leaders of this great nation, while supporting policies that would undermine it, such as surrendering to our enemies in the GWOT, raising taxes, and incrementally imposing a socialist health care system.
The flag is a symbol, and B. Hussein Obama can’t even honor that without a rambling dissertation about why he won’t.
It’s because of people like B. Hussein Obama, the other Dhimmicrat candidates, and those who support them, why they ran me off from supporting their party. They have all these grandiose plans for America($5000per newborn?), but can’t even take seriously the basic principles of good governance, or the history and traditions of this country.
He and the other Dhimmis can ignore our treasured symbols, that’s fine, because our votes are symbolic, as well.

we can talk about the occupation (”war”), the deficit, or healthcare all you like and we have on other threads. it just seems obama would rather try and hide his lack of proven leadership, military, and foreign policy experience with meaningless attempts at “free-thinking” symbolic gestures designed to appeal to people who buy into that type of bullshit!

It seems B. Hussein Obama has been missing a lot of votes in the Senate, including this one. It’s okay though, this vote wasn’t really necessary, as the U.S. Senate has no business dictating the partition of Iraq…just ask the Iraqis. Notice that Al-Reuters didn’t make a big deal out of this protest, we shouldn’t get the idea that the Iraqis are uniting, want to remain a sovereign nation, that life is improving, or that the violence has been reduced.
We certainly can’t be bothered with the nonsense that Iraqi citizens are showing more and more, ownership of their country and individual communities with reports like these…with accompanying video of MNF assistance to those concerned citizens.
Mentioning that violent deaths in Iraq have declined dramatically, that info would most likely hint at a bias in favor of President Bush, and not a proper bashing.

I’ve been rather busy this week, and missed out on some news.
It seems B. Hussein Obama missed another vote this week, and this one mattered to the nutroot supporters of the donks.
Here’s a calmer view of the same story.
I still hear the meme that W lied, but not as often, and not as loudly. I wonder what the Dhimmis will contrive next, to divert attention away from their insincerity to their base, and shift responsibility to someone else? Karl Rove is a private citizen now, and their smear attempt on Rush isn’t working out so well.

I take it you didn’t read the piece by Hitchins, then, Preston.
This guy was no Jesse Macbeth, Scott Beauchamp, Atlantic City Mayor Bob Levy, Josh Lansdale (who busted his ankle playing volleyball in Iraq), Roger Edwards, Phil Haberman, John Kerry and his mentor in Vietnam Vets Against the War, Al Hubbard, and many, many more. So many, in fact, that the U.S. Attorney’s office in Washington state, has spent 1.4 million dollars this year finding and prosecuting phony soldiers.
Don’t speak to me of character assassination, without looking at the practices of the Democrats and their supporters, like Murtha, Durbin, and Reid, for starters.
I recommend the article by Hitchins, because it speaks of an honorable man, basically a liberal, but not a moonbat , and his grieving family.

That’s one of the things I don’t like about Hitchins, is not only his absence of faith, but his derogatory statements toward those who do have faith.

Preston—you’re a smart guy. So I have a hard time believing that you bought into the Liberal fabricated outrage over Rush Limbaugh calling actual phony soldiers (or real soldiers who sold phony stories) phony.

Any person of any intelligence who bothered to read or watch Rush’s comment in its entirety and full context knows that Rush was talking about a very specific phony soldier who has proven to be a phony soldier.

Go read Stolen Valor if you doubt this happens.

Robbie, you’re welcome on the Hitchins linkage. I posted it thinking some may not of heard about it. I was fortunate to hear Hugh Hewitt reading it on air, as I was driving home Friday evening, and the first thing I did when I turned the ‘puter on was go to his website at Townhall, and find the link. I read it then, and was just blown away.

You and I served, and some others have mentioned their service here, but for those who haven’t, they will never understand how many wonderful young men and women pass through the ranks. This young looey is just one of many, and I wish I could have known him.

The paragraph about the letter from the wife of a man that was saved by this looey’s action, and saving seven children from being fatherless, was very profound, to me. He lived the words of the Kurdish gentleman, in the safe and thriving city of Dohuk, he saved lives.
