And he wants you to pay for it
I’m running out of ways to call John Edwards a socialist moron.
The Silk Pony recently unveiled his “New Deal-like suite of programs” to fight poverty and stem growing wealth disparity.
Basically, he wants to:
- Raise the minimum wage to $9.50 hour (so as to drive untold numbers of small business owners out of business)
- Institute government-paid for universal pre-kindergarten (paid for, undoubtedly, by even higher property taxes)
- Create matching savings accounts for low-income people (giving money away)
- Provide a million new Section 8 housing vouchers for the poor.
Just more Nanny-state big government.
Oh, and he also wants richer Americans to foot the college bill for everyone else in his proposed government-funded public higher education program called “College for Everyone.”
At every stop, Edwards said, he tells voters he’ll ask them to sacrifice. Asked to describe what he means, he described his plan for increases in capital gains taxes, saying taxes on “wealth income” should be in line with those on work income.
[snip]
Later, he added: “There are no free meals.”
No free meals — unless you’re one of the millions upon millions of people that John Edwards wants to give free meals (and free educations, and free housing, and free health care, etc.) to.

He’s such a loser. He should start his own socialist party.
Lots of name calling. Not much policy analysis.
Edwards seeks matching Federal….?

Ahh, the preening Silky Pony.
His persona just screams for an ass-whuppin’.
Here’s how I see Edwards. He is a modern day Robinhood, except he is going to take from the middle class and give to the poor. There is no way the fed gov can sustain all his give-aways by only taxing the rich which I will categorize as those who earn more than $200k / year. Of course the really rich are those who make millions/year, but I’m sure dems would consider anyone making 200k/year rich.
If similar philosophies prevail, it won’t be worth it to get a college degree or work one’s ass off to climb up the ladder, etc. Just take it a little easier, don’t work those long hours, don’t worry about student loans, etc. And, remember, with indexing, that 200K is going to creep up on you just like the Alternative Minimum Tax has done.
Ya know, if I had known then, what I know now….
Thanks for considering the poor in your p.o.v. Everyone is not able to afford the finer in life and needs government assistance to make a life for themselves. Please continue to provide your thoughts and beliefs. I’m with you one hundred percent. Thanks one in a million.
