Fred Thompson Joins the Debate

And I didn’t watch a minute of it.

It’s not like any of them were going to say anything new that we haven’t already heard or take a stance on a policy that we weren’t already aware of.

The Politico watched it and was uninspired by Fred:

But in the end, while all that Thompson proved is that he could stand upright for two hours, it was Romney who fell on his face.

Which is a good point — at this point I think it’s more important not to look stupid and make huge blunders than it is to be the “winner” of a particular debate.

And of course Stephen Green drunk-blogged the debate. Again.

[Ron] Paul tried to interrupt, but failed. His voice was so high this time, that my dog went nuts and wet on the carpet. I get the feeling this happens more than the Paul campaign lets on.

Kathryn Jean Lopez at The Corner think Fred won by simply showing up. I think she has a point. But it’s not a very strong one.

  1. I watched the debate. I certainly didn’t think Romney fell on his face.

  2. I don’t consider these events “debates” at all, but photo ops. When the field gets down to two or three, then I will pay attention.
    I Like Mike, btw.

  3. I like Romney, but that lawyer comment was really bad. I think what thinking Republicans are looking for is something between Romney and Paul. Get back to the Constitution, but not in a self-destructive way.
