This sounds perfectly reasonable to me:
Representative Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton) today released a statement regarding an event Dick Durbin (D-IL) reportedly plans to hold in conjunction with discussion of the DREAM ACT — an event that will be attended by several illegal aliens.
“I call on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency to detain any illegal aliens at this press conference. Just because these illegal aliens are being used for political gain doesn’t mean they get immunity from the law.”
“If we can’t enforce our laws inside the building where American laws are made, where can we enforce them?”
Tancredo alerted the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency earlier today regarding Durbin’s 3:00 PM meeting.
Any and every time an illegal immigrant is found in this country they should be arrested and detained until such time as they can be returned to the other side of our southern border.
Rep. Tancredo shouldn’t even have to say this — ICE should just be doing this anyway.
Lots of talk over at Memeorandum…

without borders, does a nation even exist?
Right on Tancredo.!! I love this guy. too bad the media has chosen to sweep him aside for that milk toast northeast liberal in reb clothing Rudy. damn shame, cause this is the guy if illegal immigration is your issue. this guy should be on every talk show, radio show across this land. blows my mind how little press or response he gets. don’t know if Americans are just that stupid or just that busy to pay attention.
because I can assure you if this hideous dream act passes you and I can kiss off any hope at all of getting social security. why? because every person granted amensity will have the same rights as any new citizen. they will be able to petition for all of their immidiate family to come over as well. mom, dad, sister, grandma..etc…..all can come over and start collecting the freebies. that will drain us complelty dry to the bone…say bye bye to your SS… OMG, 20 million new people overnight will grow to 100 million easy.!!! these congressmen are traitors as far as i am concerned…complete sell outs for cheap labor and most of all policital correctness. no one will stand up for fear of being labeled a hater..sad really the condition this country is in. all you can do is vote, email, and call.!!!! today
20 million new people overnight will grow to 100 million easy.
Marc-
1. I understand the DREAM act would apply to 55,000 high school graduates each year- not 20 million.
2. Mexico only has 100 million people total…
preston,
are you advocating for dream or just disputing marc?
Wow- thanks for asking before attacking.
The aim of my post was to say that the alarmism about the DREAM act is overblown to extreme proportions. Even if you don’t like the bill it is embarrassing to suggest that it is going to lead to the introduction of millions of new Americans.
As for the DREAM Act itself: I don’t think anyone claims that this will solve US immigration problems. That will require enforcement of the law. However, the measure is a modest way to address potentially productive citizens who came to this country through no fault of their own (they were minors, remember). The act has the virtues of both benefiting the country with new productive citizens and rewarding immigrants who have begun a path to success by serving their country in the military.
what do you think passing this law may suggest to global would be illegal immigrants seeking opportunity for their children. can you envision a scenario where trying to do good (as the dream act intends) may make “enforcement of the law” more difficult than it needs to be.
