This was in the news here in Dallas, even before the indictments were handed down. What’s funny is, the Mayor Pro-Tem, who is indicted, complained to the FBI a few months ago, that the FBI should return all of the documents they seized two years ago, since nothing has come of the investigation. File that one under careful what you wish for.
Unfortunately, the Dallas city government has a terrible reputation for corruption and payoffs for favors. This isn’t the only FBI prosecution of corrupt Dallas officials in the past ten years. One was a city councilman, accepting bribes for favorable rulings by the City Council for rules regarding the taxi industry. He served house arrest for several years, because of his age and health, and attempted to run for his old seat on the council.
So, for many of us here in Dallas, we weren’t surprised to hear this news. South Dallas, and North Dallas are a world apart. I’m ready to move a few minutes North to Plano.
Personally, the news I’m waiting to hear from the Cabell Federal building, is the jury decision in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation for funding terrorism. They were funneling charity donations to the Paleostinians of Hamas.
