There are a lot of reasons that I oppose Sen. Barack Obama becoming our next President.

But this might be the biggest and most singular reason so far:

WASHINGTON – Democrat Barack Obama said Sunday that if elected he will push to increase the amount of income that is taxed to provide monthly Social Security benefits.

Social Security is an absolute, unmitigated disaster. One of the reasons is because politicians have looted money from it to fund other projects almost since the program was started.

Social Security needs to be revamped, without a doubt. But just taxing working Americans even more to fund the government’s failure is not the answer.

Rob at Say Anything:

It’d be nice if, at some point, a liberal politician would come up with a solution to a problem that didn’t include increased government spending and/or increased taxation.

No shit. But I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Jonathan Schwarz at A Tiny Revolution says it all in the title of his post: Barack Obama, You Are a Moron.

I hate to burst your bubble, but social security is gonna run out sometime in 2017 to 2020, based on the current system. You can either raise taxes or cut benefits, or change the system to change this, but either way, there’s no way social security will continue to pay out until 2050 under the current system.
