UPDATES — 5:57 — The stand off is over. And the earlier reports of the suspect’s name were wrong.

Shortly after releasing the last hostages, Leeland Eisenberg walked out of the storefront office, held out his hands and lay on the ground.

4:36 — Apparently there are still more hostages inside. Just a few seconds ago, a young dark haired woman was just released. Speculation is that there is at least one more witness inside.

Local residents say that Mr. Stanley is a paranoid schizophrenic well known to residents and local law enforcement.

2:52 — A local resident, Cody Bennett, is telling FOX News that the hostage taker is local resident Troy Stanley (we now know of course that this is wrong).

2:47 — The description of the hostage taker resembles a known local man who is described as a 40ish male who is “mentally unstable” and has complained of being the victim of various “political conspiracy theories”.

2:39 — FOX News reporting that all hostages have now been released, and only the hostage taker remains in the building.

2:24 (CST) — On MSNBC, showing video of a blond woman being released from the campaign headquarters, which would leave one more hostage.

_________

Breaking news that an armed man (perhaps with a bomb strapped to his body) has taken two Hillary Clinton campaign workers hostage in Rochester, NH.

Thankfully Hillary is not in NH, and hopefully the two remaining hostages will be released/rescued safely.

FOX News is reporting that the man is demanding to talk to Hillary Clinton.

Obviously that isn’t going to happen.

_______

A lot of news agencies and bloggers are showing restraint in speculating who the hostage taker is, or what his agenda is.

However, I’m not a reporter — and I use this blog specifically to speculate and opine. So I’m going to.

These were my initial thoughts:

  • When I first saw the breaking news story (while having lunch at Tai Spice with my wife), my first thought was that the hostage taker is most likely a Leftwing Liberal Lunatic who’s pissed at Hillary for not stopping the war.
  • No way does this turn out to be an anti-Hillary conservative or Republican. This attack is from the Left.
  • The same people who demanded that President Bush talk to Cindy Sheehan (again) after she demanded to see him…those same people would find it ludicrous to demand that Hillary Clinton talk to this lunatic that is demanding to see her. They are right on the later case…but are still wrong on the first.

Of course I cold be wrong.

  1. Haha.

However, I’m not a reporter — and I use this blog specifically to speculate and opine. So I’m going to.

In other words, “I can make up whatever I want, so I will!”

This is your ass. *introductions occur* It’s not for talking out of.

  2. Good grief. Haven’t had the television on all day so didn’t know this. I wonder if it’s Code Pink. They’re such lunatics it wouldn’t surprise me.

  3. Kynn —- you have the reading comprehension skills of a 4 year old.

I haven’t “made up” anything — I said that I think it’s more likely that this hostage taker is a LLL than a conservative. That’s not making shit up —- especially since I prefaced it as “this is what I think”.

What part of that confused you? What part of that did your tiny brain thing I was reporting as fact?

    Idiot.

  4. Eh? I don’t see we’re disagreeing. You’re just making up shit, and I said “oh, you’re making up shit” and you said “wah! This isn’t me making up shit! This is my opinion! it’s not factual!”

I mean, we both agree that you had zero evidence here, and lacking evidence, you decided the best thing to do was blame your political enemies.

You say you’re not reporting fact — okay, then how are you not making shit up? You clearly are. You clearly don’t know anything about the guy.

That, my friend, is pretty much the epitome of “making shit up.”

  5. So using your logic, Kynn, liberals would “make stuff up” when they say that they think Iraq will be better of and safer when we leave. It’s not a fact, and they’re merely speculating, but if it’s not fact, then I guess they’re making it up, right?

And if an abortion clinic was bombed today, you wouldn’t be speculating (“making stuff up”) that it was a hardline Christian conservative who was responsible?

  6. Sheese — I said it was my opinion. Which I assure is not “made up”. My opinion does in fact exist.

I did not try to pass off my opinion as fact. That is the domain of the Left (Dan Rather, fake but accurate news!).

  7. Kynn is trying out to be the ‘undecided Republican’ at the next CNN moderated debate.

  8. Henh.
I’m making this all up of course, but in my opinion the person that did this is deranged.

  9. but in my opinion the person that did this is deranged.

Exactly- a fact that sort of trumps whoever he might vote for president.
