She didn’t meet Richard while she was visiting her brother — that’s a lie. Visitors don’t have access to other death row inmates other than the one they are visiting.
Marsha sought out a relationship with Michael.
What kind of woman intentionally seeks out a relationship with a man who is on death row for raping and murdering another woman?
A sick, desperate, and exceptionally emotionally unstable woman. I can’t even begin to imagine the low levels of self-esteem required to sink to this level.

The widow of Michael Richard, a convicted murderer executed by Texas six weeks ago, has sued the Texas judge who prevented his appeal from being considered in state court.
Richard confessed to the 1986 rape and murder of 53-year old Marguerite Lucille Dixon from Hockley, Tx.
After raping her, he shot her in the head with a .25 caliber pistol. Then he burglarized her home.
Richard’s widow, Marsha Richard, is suing Judge Sharon Keller because she refused to accept the appeal after the court’s normal closing time of 5 p.m. Michael Richard’s lawyers had asked for extra time.
You would think that Ms. Richard would be pissed at her dead husband’s lawyer — his client has been on death row for 21 years, and he can’t get his appeals in on time?

I’m glad Michael Richard is dead. Some people are just no good, and the world is a better place without them. Michael Richard is was one of those people.
I hope Ms. Richard loses her frivolous law suite. Whatever the basis of their late appeal — it was not based on the innocence of her husband. That he raped and murdered that innocent woman is not in dispute.
But if somehow she does prevail, than I hope the family of her husband’s victim sues the shit out of Ms. Richard for the death caused by her husband. I’d love to be on that jury…

She’s already lost, and she doesn’t know.
No, she refused to keep the courthouse open. Richard’s attys were free to contact that judge assigned to handle emergency appeals and work out how they would file an after hours with her, i.e., by fax or by delivering any writs personally to her. This is how it is always done. No matter what, this guy was guilty, was afforded due process, and did not suffer a cruel and unusual punishment. I’m sure Mrs. Richard will be engaged to another thug on death row by the end of 2008.
And the suit was withdrawn. The judge is protected by juridical immunity (separate from the fact she did nothing wrong). I guess they will come up with a new theory to try to shake the state down for some free cash.
