I haven’t been to Wal-Mart in years — so long in fact, that I still have a $25 Wal-Mart gift card in my wallet that someone gave me more than 5 years ago.

I don’t have anything against Wal-Mart — I just don’t ever have a need to go there.

Now it seems that the store that sells just about everything…is selling their own Wal-Mart label vino:

Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retail chain, will begin selling its own Alcott Ridge Vineyards wine brand this week. The wine is produced by E.J. Gallo Winery of Modesto, CA. WalMart currently sells wine in 38 states. The new private label brand will sell for $6-7 per 750-milliliter bottle. Analysts believe that Wal-Mart is likely to field a private label beer brand in the near future.

Outstanding.

In case you’re wondering what kind of person buys wine from Wal-mart — people like this blogger buy their pinot grigio at thrifty prices.

h/t to David Letterman, who just quipped, “You can find it on the same aisle as the garden hoses.”
