Austin Area Great Dane Meetup: Bull Creek Park

Earlier this month, right after we got our new black Great Dane puppy, we happened into the Austin Area Great Dane Meetup Group at Bull Creek Park. We joined the group, and met again today at Bull Creek Park for a Year End Meetup.

Great Danes

That’s our 8-month old Angus in the light blue collar.

I didn’t count, but it looks like there were 25-30 Danes and their owners at the park this morning — it’s a great opportunity to let our big dogs play with other similarly sized dogs, and a great chance to get tips on training, nutrition, health, etc. from other Dane owners.

  4. I have a puppy that my vet and I believe to be a Great Dane-X, possibly with a Lab? How can I find out? He is just 5 months now, and almost as large as my 1 yr old Great Pirenees-Heeler cross, is there a chance he could be full Great Dane? He just looks like a huge black lab with white chest/back toes, huge floppy ears, and droopy jowls! If you have any insite, please let me know! Thanks!

    • possibley what you described looked like my great dane pup at that age. she is black with a white chest and toes, and when she was young people thought she was a labrador puppy. So I would either get him dna tested or wait until he gets around eight months old (thats how old mine is) and he should have long legs a big head big feet and be a little taller than a rottie or a lot taller than a coondog.
