It was as cold as I can remember it being in Austin in a very, very long time this morning — 26 degrees when I hopped on my bike to head to work.
But at least we’re not Daytona Beach, Florida — where apparently they are expecting snow. For the first time EVER (actually since January 19, 1977).
Of course Man-Made Global Warming is to blame…
______
Last night was a record cold here in Austin:
At 11:59 p.m. last night, it dropped to 24 degrees at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, which was a record low for New Year’s Day at the airport (going back to 1943).
By the time many Central Texans hopped in their cars to head to work, it was even colder. At 6:09 this morning, it was 18 degrees at the airport, which was two degrees away from the date’s all-time cold temperature reading of 16 set in 1979.
The wind chill factor on my motorcycle ride this morning — 26 degree while riding 65 mph = 4 degrees. I thought it felt a bit cold out…
