But mostly from “being hit by multiple cars”
Here’s the front page headline from the Houston Chronicle this morning:
Man dies running across Houston freeway
Not to make light of a tragic death — but that’s some ambiguously poor headline writing. Sounds like the guy might have died from running. Maybe he had a heart attack?
From the article:
A man died after being hit by two 18-wheel trucks and two cars on the East Freeway near Mercury early today, police said.
The man ran across the eastbound lanes of the freeway at about 12:10 a.m., then jumped into the westbound lanes and was hit by the first truck, Houston police accident investigator Officer D. J. Guiterrez said.
“We know he was hit by at least four vehicles,” he said. “He got hit by one 18-wheeler, then he was run over by two cars and then by another 18-wheeler.”
I don’t think the running had as much to do with his death as the “being hit by two 18-wheel trucks and two cars”. Running across a freeway won’t kill you. But being rolled over by a few cars and trucks usually will.
