The last time that I drove my truck to work (actually, it’s a an SUV) — rather than ride my motorcycle — was January 18, 2007.
I remember the date because it was during last year’s Ice Storm. After two days of ice and freezing temperatures, I drove to work one day that week.
My streak ended today — and I’m mad at myself for driving, since it didn’t need to end today…
It started raining last night, and the weatherman predicted 60% chance of showers today, combined with high temps in the mid-40’s. Didn’t sound like the best day to ride — I don’t mind riding in the rain, and I don’t mind riding in the cold, but I hate riding in the cold rain.
So I drove to work today.
While it’s not sunny out today, it is dry. Roads are completely dry — I spent a couple of hours on Sunday detailing my bike, and didn’t want to dirty it up on wet and grimy roads. The temperature is a nice-enough 57 degrees right now.
Two days short of an entire year of parking my 12 mpg Land Rover in the driveway in favor of my 46 mpg Roadliner (or my 52 mpg VStar Classic). Oh well. At least I got to listen to the radio on the way to/from the office.

Damn- 12 miles per gallon?!?
