Ann Coulter sums up pretty succinctly why I won’t be voting for (and rabidly opposing) Sen. John McCain:
John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth. Like McCain, pollsters assured us that Dole was the most “electable” Republican. Unlike McCain, Dole didn’t lie all the time while claiming to engage in Straight Talk.
Of course, I might lie constantly too, if I were seeking the Republican presidential nomination after enthusiastically promoting amnesty for illegal aliens, Social Security credit for illegal aliens, criminal trials for terrorists, stem-cell research on human embryos, crackpot global warming legislation and free speech-crushing campaign-finance laws.
I don’t agree with Ann on everything — for instance on stem-cell research, but that’s because of our differing religious beliefs. But I fully agree with her opposition to Sen. McCain.
This election year, more than anything, I want a true fiscal conservative. After that I want someone who is hell bent on securing our borders and reducing the number of illegals are currently here now — and by granting them amnesty, but rather by taking away all of their incentives to stay (easy jobs, free health care, in-state tuition, anchor baby citizenship, and free education).
Holy shit. I just made the case for Ron Paul. Now if only he weren’t a Blame-America-First half-crazy nutjob. Besides, I also want a President who will continue to take the fight to our Islamic enemies. So that eliminates Dr. Paul.

Ann is a goddess!
Interestingly, you have described Mike Huckabee, but you have already been influenced by the numerous misrepresentations made about his record and plans on those issues.
He did cut taxes, 90 times in Arkansas, and the $550million in new taxes that were pushed through, were done so by legislative overrides on new taxes he had vetoed.
He has outlined a nine step plan to seal the border, and reduce the number of illegals here, but all anyone mentions is that he proposed allowing qualified students in his state, to apply for scholarships, even if they were the children of illegals. The one teensy detail his detractors have left out, which Mike has expressed, if anyone bothered to look, is that those applicants would have to first apply for citizenship, and show proof, before applying for the scholarships.
He may not be strong on foreign affairs or national defense, but other than McCain, none of the other candidates are either.
There are no perfect candidates!
What I see happening is this, and I’m fairly certain of the outcome, is that Romney will win the nomination, because he has the money, and he has the executive and business experience, to address what will be the major issue in this election…the economy.
All things considered, I also think many have a problem with Mike’s religious beliefs, which don’t bother me one iota.
Huckabee’s strong evangelical background is what I like most about him — and I’m an agnostic.
Okay, I just don’t understand how the misrepresentations about Mike have become so universally accepted, when the accurate info is easily found on the net. He doesn’t have much money, which is a damning situation in a campaign, and his approach has been either people believe him or they don’t, as he doesn’t have the money to make the ad buys to correct the lies that have been spread about him. It’s unfortunate, because he has a better record than he is given credit for.
I’m an atheist and I found a lot of the criticism of Huckabee by conservatives to be patently unfair. Worse, they are still going on about him even though he is not the front runner. AoShq can’t shut the fuck up about him.
In your zeal to take the fight to the Islamic enemy, you and the rest of the mindless neocons are exposing this nation to a far greater threat than Islamo-nutjubs. Our soveriegn credit is in jeopardy, and our entire economy and the world economy is based on the full faith and credit of the US government to honor its debts through US Dollars. The Dollar index has slipped well below 80 for the first time in history, while we are selling debt to China while printing up new money like mad.
Every empire throughout the history of the entire world has collapsed because it went broke. How do you figure that the mighty United States of America is any different?
But we are not an Empire? You say… Yes, we are an Empire, foriegn nations continue to buy our debt in exchange for Global Security. Our debt is the taxes that they pay for the us being the World police, in exchange we get taxed to pay off the interest 0n that debt. No net benefit is realized by the nations buying our debt because the interest does not keep up with inflation.
No longer are our armed forces defenders of America and American Liberty, but are now the enforcement arm on the maintence of an Empire. I’m not for blaming America first, but its been 6 and 1/2 years and I think that the time has come to ask honestly why terrorists would want to give their lives trying to attack us. Certainly, you do not truly believe that they are simple unthinking brutes who in their Religious Zeal, randomly decided to travel halfway around the world to suicide themselves in attempts to destroy the shining city on a hill, because they hate our freedoms do you?
What would you do if the UN was patroling 6th Street in their Blue Helmets? Tell me that you would not think of taking a pot shot at them or pulling a Charles Whitman and taking out as many of those bastards as you could.
Mind you, I am not blaming America first, I am blaming the foriegn policy of America which is in complete contridiction to the advice of our founding fathers. Our military is for our national defense, not to be the policemen of the World. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. We attacked them to enforce UN resolutions. They were not and never have been a threat to American National Security, they never had a Navy to get over here, never had an airforce that could reach American Soil. In no way were they ever a threat to us.
Making the World a safe place for democracy is a Wilsonian idea, not a conservative idea. Neoconservitism orginated as a leftwinger movement, it is not conservative in its nature.
As for Mike Huckabee, he may well get his value added Tax passed, but you will hate it because prices will just go up on everything, and in reality you will become less wealthy. Of course this assumes, that the income tax will never make a comeback, which of course it will. None of that matters anyhow though, because we are headed towards a financial collapse unless we change our foriegn policy of borrowing money from commie China so we can police the World. Ron Paul is the only guy who is telling you the truth about what is going on, which is why the powers that be are going out of their way to marginalize him and make him seem like a kook. Something very bad is brewing for this country if we do not wake up and defend our liberty and economic security now, and quit giving borrowed money away, or burning it on senseless wars which have a history of resulting in blowback situations like we saw on 9/11.
Wake up!
