If You Could Fight Any Celebrity…

Yeah, yeah, yeah…I know a bunch of you would say “nobody”.

But if you could fight any celebrity — let’s call it a charity boxing match, in a ring, with gloves, protective gear, and a referee — who would it be?

My first impulse has always been Sean Penn. Mainly because I think he’d actually be game and put up a decent fight for a few minutes. If Rosie O’Donnell was a man, it’d be a no brainer.

But the more I think about it, the more I’d like the chance to punch Keith Olbermann in his pretty little mouth — make him back up some of that idiotic and irrational hate that he spews forth every night. Some men talk a lot of shit when they know they’ll never have to back it up. Olbermann is one of those men.

Olby’s a big guy, too (6′ 4″ and around 230 lbs), so it might be somewhat sporting for a minute or two.

Who would you like a chance to lace up the gloves and go toe-to-toe with? Come on — it’s for charity!

  1. Hmmmm….a celebrity, hunh? So it doesn’t have to be an actor or a musician, but just someone well known.
    ?????????
I would go with any one this list, chicks included.

  2. Wow, that’s easy, it would be all the fear mongering, propaganda spewing liars from wingnut nation. Rush, Sean, BillO, Beck, Hume all at the same time.

  3. I assume you haven’t lost your remote. Change the channel. I don’t watch Glen Beck or Bill O’Reilly because they are irritating to the point I want to fling things at the TV. I don’t watch Chris Mathews because he’s so rude the way he talks over his guests and asks/answers his own questions. I don’t watch lou dobbs because I’m tired of all roads leading to anti-immigration. You don’t have to punch anybody or watch anything. Change the channel. Read a book.

  4. You’re right, Robbie . It is really easy to talk shit when you know you’ll never have to back it up. So stop, already. Maybe you could take Keith Olberman, maybe you couldn’t. But none of us are ever going to know and it’s really easy to talk tough on a blog site.
You’d probably lose anyway. Before you talk any more shit you might want to get over the wingnut article of faith that everyone who isn’t a rabid righty is a pussy. It aint ever been so. I personally wouldn’t bet on you against Rosie, either.

  5. i’m not interested in defending anyone that depends on ratings to earn a living…but i do find it interesting that you equate truth with “idiotic and irrational hate”…unless of course you can point out what he said that isn’t true. more likely this is part of the same mindset that equates a rational disdain for the incompetence and moral bankruptcy of the current administration with “bush derangement syndrome”. republicans showed everyone about “idiotic and irrational hate” when they spent millions investigating anything and everything clinton and finally had to settle for lying about extramarital sex. it sure would be nice to get past this garbage and work to move this country forward instead of back.

  6. If you do not support our President’s decisions you are a traitor.

    No2-
You really read a lot of blogs antithetical to democracy, huh?

  7. No2,

After viewing the traitors list, I was proud to ask for my name to be included. Thanks for the link.

  8. Hilarious!!!

Okay, so you can’t refute any of the big bad words Keith Olberman said about your preznit and his policies, so what do you do? You come on your blog and threaten to kick his ass.

You clearly aren’t aware that you’re a living, breathing stereotype of a republican. And in your ignorance, you display all the qualities perfectly.

  9. Ugh! Me right-wing ideologue. Me not like bad words from Keith! Me smash! Ugh! Me have intellectual bankruptcy. Kind of like my President! Now, if me could only learn to use opposable thumbs to pick up remote and turn to Rush Limbaugh for soothing lies.

  11. Paul — this guy is an insult even to Republicans. I like to think there is a significant number of conservatives cut from the same cloth as William F. Buckley — who value a reasoned argument, who accept gains with generous grace and accept defeat with dignity and courtesy. It’s simply a matter of being civilized — a respect for the opposing viewpoint. This cro-magnon doesn’t even state the opposing arguments, simply spews ad-hominem, and proposes violence as the resolution of the debate. Come to think of it, this guy is an insult to evolution — which he probably dismisses — as well.

  12. Wouldn’t it be easier to take some of that anger somewhere else? Like a hot zone in Fallujah or Kandahar?

  13. How about a anti-Bush celebrity that can hand your ass back to you?

    you know, like Henry Rollins?

    Posted by MyPetGloat | January 29, 2008, 3:08 pm
  14. or mixed martial artist Jeff Monson?

    Posted by MyPetGloat | January 29, 2008, 3:12 pm
  15. psmarc93, I agree this guy is an insult to conservatives, but not to republicans. That’s because, per Buckley’s descriptions of conservatism, the GOP is no longer the conservative party. They no longer uphold any conservative ideals, although occasionally they have to verbally support those ideas to rally the base before abandoning them. Fiscal responsibility? Less government intrusion into personal affairs? States rights? The GOP hasn’t stood for these things for at least 15 years.

The GOP currently stands for the radical transformation of the US government into a right wing authoritarian state, all the while funneling money from the US taxpayer into the coffers of cronies. The fact that they still appear fairly far from this goal does in no way mean that’s not their clear objective. Those who remain in the GOP support this objective. Hence, they’re always quicker to threaten violence instead of offering a more compelling argument, which is what wins the day in an authoritarian system.

The sooner we understand that Republicanism and Conservatism are two very different things, the sooner we can have a truly honest debate about the future of our country, which is something that needs to happen.

  16. You’re killing me, Smalls…

Lighten up folks…I’m not threatening to beat anybody up. I said it would be fun to get in a ring with the guy for a few rounds.

I knew most Libs were humorless pricks, but sheese…

If Olby really did want to do it for charity — I’d donate a week’s pay to his favorite charity or he donates a week’s pay to my favorite charity (Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund) — loser pays to the winner’s charity.

Oh, and MyPetScrote, the Chicken Hawk meme — besides being the most asinine argument ever invented by the Left — looks all the more idiotic when talking to an old disabled veteran.

You could look at it any way you like. It’s a blog remember, people can say whatever they want on their own blogs. Some even allow you to make comments. I was attracted to the list, and the ridiculous rantings of the LLL.

    David
You’re welcome, refreshing to see there is an honest traitor out there.

  18. make him back up some of that idiotic and irrational hate that he spews forth every night

Robbie, so you know, Olbermann does back up what he says every night. That’s why he talks for so long. The part where he uses all those big words? That’s where he’s substantiating his opinion.

You can’t refute that opinion with a counter argument. We all get that. As a result, out of frustration, you’ve written this post, which speaks volumes.

Keep in mind, I certainly do have a sense of humor, and I found your post hilarious. An absolute scream. Not for the reasons you might think it’s funny, though.

  19. “Some men talk a lot of shit when they know they’ll never have to back it up. Olbermann is one of those men.”

Well, he does back it up.

As misguided as this post may be on the outside, all the liberals who came in and pounced would be well served to remember they probably get the exact same feeling from conservative pundits. One even mentioned it.

In fact punching this blog author probably crossed a few minds.

    Admit it.

At least this blogger is just being honest about how partisan politics makes him feel. He isn’t mailing off anthrax letters, I just don’t see the point of the outrage.

    He also used to box.

“looks all the more idiotic when talking to an old disabled veteran.”

    Thank you for your service.

You aren’t *that* old. You look my age, yeesh. Ok, maybe sort of old.

“I’m appalled to watch the Liberal Left and our main stream media side with and make apologies for our terrorist enemies…”

Now you see, I understand how you feel. I read this and want to kick you right in the teeth.

    Who is apologizing? Get real.

  20. As misguided as this post may be on the outside, all the liberals who came in and pounced would be well served to remember they probably get the exact same feeling from conservative pundits. One even mentioned it.

Speaking only for myself here, I can tell you I don’t feel that way. In a battle of ideas (which is what politics is), I correctly understand that ideas are the only valid weapon. Once someone needs to revert to violence to make a point against someone else’s words, that’s their admission that they have lost the argument.

The Republicans, since Newt’s 1994 Contract On America, have lost the argument. All their policy ideas have been abysmal failures, and have left the country in ruins. This is the argument that Olberman makes night after night, that sends poor Robbie into conniptions. Countering this argument requires wit and a fair amount if dishonesty. Robbie clearly lacks the first of these, at least, but probably not the second, seeing as he still identifies with Bush and the Republicans.

I didn’t respond with outrage. I responded with ridicule, which I reckon is the correct response to something as hilarious and absurd as this. And, to be honest, I also responded with no small amount of glee, as I watch one more idiot unintentionally admit that his side has lost.

    Posted by Paul | January 29, 2008, 7:22 pm
  21. Paul, dude, the fallacies in your post are astounding.
Robbie makes a humorous hypothetical post, and you unload all of your misinformation.
Politics is a battle of ideas? LOL! That’s funny, it’s a blood-sport for self-interest. Ask the Horny Hick and his wife the candidate. Ask Obambi and his lecherous cousin who is responsible for all of the killing in Kenya.
All GOP ideas since the CWA are abysmal failures? Honestly! I’ll bet you do one show every night, with two on Saturday…the last one being a little blue.

  22. No2,

I’m happy to add my name to a list of traitors that includes 4 veterans – one a Silver Star recipient and one a former Secretary of the Navy, leader of Marine combat troops and an Annapolis grad. That’s some good company.

Oh, and I did my time on the watch, 1969-71. And I have two Purple Hearts in my desk, one for my uncle and one for my father-in-law, which made me a little touchy about the GOP making fun of Purple Hearts at their convention.

You know, putting it on a band-aid and all. Ha ha. I guess that was a joke, too.

You conservatives sure do know a bunch of funny jokes.

Next time you see a Marine in an airport with that purple ribbon over his pocket, ask him if he bled enough to deserve it. I’ll bet he finds it as funny as I do.

Posted by David Terrenoire | January 29, 2008, 11:43 pm
  23. And the ‘joke’ isn’t even original, Robbie is repeating himself. He is always looking for a fight but when he is Hide he’ll just write…

What frustrations can do to a man..

    Posted by Jacques | January 30, 2008, 7:46 am
  24. David, I served five years, and no Purple Hearts. There are Purple Hearts, then there are JG John Effing Kerry Purple Hearts, which are the really funny kind. Then J Effing Kerry goes before Congress, with his fraudulent co-conspirator and lies to the world with his “Winter Soldier” story, while he is never under oath. So to honor his service is one thing, to point out how he dishonored it and the military, negates any comradeship I could ever feel for him. That and the way he conducted himself while in Congress, voting against practically every modern weapon system now in use.
Yeah, we know a lot of jokes, as the LLL gives us so much material to work with.
As for seeing a Marine, or any other service member at the airport, I see them regularly and always thank them for what they do, and they know I am sincere.
That list really seems to have gotten your thong in a twist. Which is what I had hoped to do. I had almost forgotten about it, too, it had been so long since I found it. Thanks for the affirmation.

  25. As usual, republicans elevating the level of the debate… “responsible for all of the killing in Kenya”? Sheesh, no wonder they always vote for mental midgets (Reagan, Dubya) or moral midgets (Nixon, Dubya again).

Posted by Fernan Gomez | January 30, 2008, 3:12 pm
  26. Yes, the republicans on this thread are competing on who can write the dumbest, most vacuous comments. I would say that these aren’t extraordinarily dumb republicans; they’re perfectly average. Rather, this supports the general belief that the GOP is a magnet for morons. All you need to do is go to right-wing blogs, and you’ll see “dumber-than-a-bag-of-hammers” demonstrated for you daily.

    Posted by Paul | January 30, 2008, 3:29 pm
  27. Ah, so I gather the intelligent poseurs Fernan and Paul don’t know about Obambi’s cousin Raila Odinga, who the Senator actually campaigned in Kenya for as President. You need to get out of your leftard echo chambers more often. Odinga signed a pledge with the Muslim Leaders in Kenya for their support, in turn, he would Talibanize Kenya, if elected.
Your smug condescending claim to superior intelligence or information is baseless.
FYI, I am a conservative first, a Republican only because I more closely identify with their principles, and not the Marxist-Stalinist principles of the donks.

    Posted by no2liberals | January 30, 2008, 11:39 pm
  28. For the mental midgets Fernan and Paul, if you know how to use google, type in these words…obama odinga cousins. Then share the info from all of the 32,900 entries, with your uneducated LLL comrades.

    Posted by no2liberals | January 31, 2008, 12:04 am
  29. No2Liberals, if your point is to show that Obama is not 100% squeaky clean, then you’ve adequately made it. As such, it’s the first valid point you’ve made on this page, and you have every reason to be proud.

Just wondering, however: can you substantiate the idea that Obama and Odinga are cousins and that Obama responsible for “all the killing in Kenya”, without using a media outlet that is owned by Rupert Murdoch?

Trouble is, if you were hoping to make a larger point, that Obama is ethically compromised in a way that not all the republican candidates are not, well, you’ll have a tough time there. For example, a new report shows that our efforts in the GOP-lead war on terror are actually enabling tyrants. Not opposition leaders with limited power like Odinga, but tyrants like Musharrev who are actually in charge and devoted to repressing its citizens.
    http://www.kansascity.com/440/story/469109.html

You have no problem with that, but you’re shocked, shocked, that Obama is connected with Odinga, at least according to Rupert Murdoch. The reason for that, No2Liberals, is that you have no guiding principles other than what your name implies. That is being shown increasingly often among republicans: other than “hooray for our team, and boo for the other guys,” there are no other defining principles. It’s just power for power’s sake.

    Posted by Paul | January 31, 2008, 2:04 pm
  30. So Paul, would you like to see photos of B-HO campaigning in Narobi for his cuz?
Henh, an article that claims the GWOT is enabling tyrants like Musharaf. Well, I say Pervez is our friend for a number of reasons, he has been fighting terrorism in his country, which is now the front line in the GWOT, since Iraq no longer is, we asked him to step down as the commander of the military…he did; we asked him to end the state of emergency in Pakistan…he did; we asked him to hold elections…they are scheduled. AQ has tried to kill him numerous times. One other note about Pakistan, the man who is believed responsible for killing Bhutto, Mehsud, two years ago he was sitting in Guantanamo, getting fat. Once he got released to his home country, he immediately returned to the battle field. Gee, thanks bleeding heart liberal idiots, for screaming about the rights of those who deserve none, so they can continue to kill.
So you pretend to know me, power for powers sake, well, actually I believe that the transitory power elected officials have, should only be entrusted with grown-ups, not liberals.
And yes, I’m right because I’m right wing.

    Posted by no2liberals | February 1, 2008, 8:15 am
  31. And yes, I’m right because I’m right wing.

And I am an idiot? Well, I’m rather an idiot than to share (or follow) your strong blind folded believes.

    Respect for Paul:

The reason for that, No2Liberals, is that you have no guiding principles other than what your name implies.
