Jesus Flores — Takes Justice Into His Own Hands (literally)

Hasn’t been any Death Penalty blogging in while, since the Supreme Court of the United States is trying to decide whether or not the drug combination used for lethal injection is “humane enough”.

In the meantime, states (yes, even Texas) has halted executions until SCOTUS decides.

But, while the Supremes are dragging their feet, some death row pieces of shit are helping speed things up (with the added benefit of saving me some tax dollars).

Jesus FloresLike this cop-killer, Jesus Flores, who decided not to wait on the Supreme Court, and instead took matters into his own hand:

A correctional officer was making a routine cell check at the Polunsky Unit in Livingston when he discovered Jesus Flores’ blood-covered body at 4 a.m, said Michelle Lyons, spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Flores was pronounced dead at 5:08 a.m. A preliminary investigation indicates Flores cut his own throat then tried to scrawl a note with his blood on the cell wall.

“It appeared he had tried to write something on the wall but it appeared largely illegible,” Lyons said.

The 25-year-old death row inmate was sentenced to die following his conviction in the May 22, 2001 shooting death of Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Joseph Dennis.

The only way the news could be better is if his timely end inspires some of his fellow death row inmates to follow suite.

  2. Ha! As it turns out — yes. He did.

I think every death row cell should come complete with a strong rope — just in case….

  3. Shouldn’t this cop killer be tried in absentia, for using “cruel and unusual punishment?”
I mean, the method he used is truly barbaric and cruel. Especially, compared to the three drug cocktail, that has illicited the response of ecstasy from some of it’s recipients.
Bleeding himself out like that, the pain, the suffering, not to mention the mess, doesn’t seem lawful.
Not being able to murder anyone again must have really gotten to him, so he murdered the only one he could get his hands on.

  5. Yes, he did do a horrible thing. He has admitted to that, but you are no better than saying all those horrible things. He was a good person, a chruch person. It’s was sad to see that the drugs took over his life.

  6. Oh Lord, another weepy “I knew him when.”
So was he on drugs when he slit his throat?
I’ll save my condolences and best wishes for the family and friends of the officer whose life this cretin took away.

  7. Rebecca: you need psychiatric help.

  8. Do tell, Freud, what is you psychiatric diagnosis for Rebecca?

  9. Why would I offer a diagnosis? I’m not a psychiatrist. However, I do recognize delusional thinking. Equating Robbie with a man who stole cars and murdered a law enforcement officer in cold blood, is delusional. Therefore, she should seek psychiatric help. You, too.

  10. WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE?
    THAT IS GODS JOB!

IF YOU HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY THEN DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL.

HE DID WHAT HE DID. HE SUFFERED AND HE IS HUMAN LIKE US. LET HIM REST NOW!

    NO ONE IS PERFECT.

  11. Dang, a cap lock post.
Anonymous, if you were going for visually stunning effect, you should have used the bold feature. That really would have made a difference, and I would be on my knees right now. But just all caps? It just doesn’t speak to me.

  14. Wow. I cannot believe this happened. Yes, another ‘I knew him’ person commenting here. I have not spoken to him in years but I knew the timeline of the events that took place. I am sure he was sorry for what he did and I’m sure he turned to God the moment he realized what he did wrong. However, he did kill someone. I still cannot contemplate how he managed to do so. He was sorry for this crime and I read how he begged to be removed from death row.

He knew the consequences before he committed the crime. This is reality. He was well aware of the law. He was in and out of trouble through his life. I’m sad his life ended in such tragedy. I’m sad he acted out in so much anger that day the office arrived to his house. I am sad it had to take something so tragic to happen in order for him to realize his behavior was unacceptable and he needed to change.

My prayers are with his family. He was a tough boy to raise. I know what he put his mother through but I know how much he loved her. He was an average kid at one point but continued down the wrong path of behavior towards the point of no return. He was smart. That’s a true statement and he had academic scores to prove it. I am just sorry he forgot that and chose drugs and juvenile behavior as a lifestyle. I am sorry he realized what he did was wrong after the damage was done. RIP Jesus
