Our company occupies the entire second floor of a two-story office building. The two companies that share our building downstairs are Rules Based Medicine, and a spin-off of their biomarker testing laboratory business, Biophysical.
Last week we were invited to a presentation by the President and Chief Medical Officer of Biophysical, Dr. George P. Rodgers. The subject of the presentation was their new consumer health assessment offering, the Biophysical250:
Biophysical250 is a robust blood assessment that provides the single most comprehensive evaluation of an individual’s health. Everything that happens in your body manifests itself in your blood biomarkers. The Biophysical250 measures the levels of 250 individual blood-based biomarkers (see complete list in a sample report), allowing clinicians to identify a person’s real and potential health conditions. The benefit is providing more information that individuals and their physicians can use to detect conditions earlier and make better decisions.
Annual physical examinations typically evaluate only a limited number of health conditions. Depending on your health history, the blood tests ordered as part of an annual physical generally measure only up to 40 different biomarkers. Biophysical250 delivers a more comprehensive assessment of more than 250 different biomarkers, and may indicate potentially serious medical conditions before symptoms appear (view the Biomarker Glossary). Bear in mind that a high level of fitness does not always indicate a high level of health. Recent studies have shown that even outwardly healthy people can discover the initial stages of serious problems by taking this assessment.
We were given a “neighbor” and corporate rate, but it’s still pretty-damned expensive. But since we were allowed to pay for this out of our Health Savings Accounts (HSA), I went ahead and signed up.
I get my results back in about 2-weeks. I’ll update when I know more. I’m a bit anxious (could I have coronary heart disease or diabetes and just don’t know it yet?) but I’d rather know sooner than later.

Hope you’re ok. I wouldn’t have the guts.
