President Bill Clinton on the University of Texas Campus

My wife and I just got back from watching former President Bill Clinton speak at the foot of the UT clock tower on campus.

We were extremely fortunate to get very close to the podium…we were on the second row, only about 12 feet from where President Clinton was standing.

We were close enough, that when President Clinton was done speaking and came down to shake hands with the crowd, I was able to shake his hand (as was my wife), which allows me to tick one more item off of my life list.

I’ll have more later, as I’m going through my pictures and videos…

I’m not a huge fan of President Clinton (the man or the President). But I have such tremendous respect for the office of the President, that it’s an honor and tremendously exciting to get the opportunity to see them in person. Especially from so close.

I couldn’t help but think how few Democrats could or would do the same for President Bush in the future — simply go to hear the man speak and remain polite and respectful throughout.

Clinton was the best thing to happen to Republicans since Reagan left. Would you honor Barack Saddam Hussein Osama Obama if he becomes our former President?

[Editor --- Pat, I know the concept of respecting the office of the President of the United States, regardless of who the President is, is a foreign one to Liberals. As I stood there last night, I kept remember how how college liberals treat invited conservative speakers. Usually by shouting them down, heckling them loudly, throwing stuff at them, or otherwise physically attacking them. If President Bush had been the speaker last night in front of that same crowd, you can bet your ass that the disrespect would have been heard all the way to College Station.

I went out of my way to attend a speech by a former President of the United States because it's an honor to hear and see them. Regardless of which one it is. Yes, that would include the junior Senator from Illinois.

Just because you can't fathom how a person could stand and respectfully listen to someone with whom they disagree and even dislike, doesn't mean that better people than yourself aren't capable of it.]

I’m liberal, ergo, I am morally inferior to you. That’s sums you and your ilk’s worldview pretty well. Why you need an entire blog to reaffirm that each day is somewhat telling, methinks.
