The NY Times would rather we grant citizenship to people who sneaked into our country illegally than to grant “natural born citizen” status to one of our nation’s great war heroes and long-time Senator because he was born on a US Military base (to American parents) in Panama.

Sounds like the al Qaeda Times of New York™  is getting desperate to sink the man they endorsed (part of their plan to help get the most Liberal conservative nominated in the primary and then defeated in the general election).

The 14th Amendment defines citizenship this way: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” But even this does not get specific enough. As usual, the Constitution provides the framework for the law, but it is the law that fills in the gaps.

Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are “citizens of the United States at birth:”

Anyone born inside the United States
Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person’s status as a citizen of the tribe
Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year.
Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.

He is not a natural born American. Quite how he thinks he is more patriotic than Obama who is, is beyond me.

Do you really want to play the "who's more patriotic" game between Obama (self-serving guy who never served in the military and has a hard time honoring and respecting this nation's flag) and McCain (a genuine war hero who, despite being a prisoner of war for nearly 7-years, still feels that he owes his country more than it owes him).

Only the biggest kind of idiot (that would be you) would think there is any kind of comparison in what these two men have sacrificed for their country. McCain was willing to fight and die for his country. Obama? He's the one asking what the country can do for him.]

You understand that there is- as they say- a firewall between the news and editorial divisions of any respectable newpaper?

And if this counts as ‘getting desperate’ what do all of the ravings about Obama’s ’stealth Muslim’ inclinations amount to?

Yesterday, St. McCain said this about Iraq:

“Al Qaeda is in Iraq. And that’s why we’re fighting in Iraq, and that’s why we’re succeeding in Iraq.”

So we’re succeeding in Iraq … because al Qaeda’s in Iraq? WTF?

And what happened to this from just a day earlier?

The Iraq War, Mr. McCain said, will be over “soon.”

He continued: “…the war for all intents and purposes, although the insurgency will go on for years and years and years, but it will be handled by the Iraqis, not by us, and then we decide what kind of security arrangement we want to have with the Iraqis. … “
