Nice to see the GOP acting like conservatives:
A Democratic proposal to curb rising home foreclosures by changing bankruptcy law failed a key test vote in the U.S. Senate on Thursday.
In a largely party-line vote, Republicans blocked the measure from moving ahead, although lawmakers said it may be reconsidered later, possibly with amendments.
As proposed, the bill would let bankruptcy judges erase some mortgage debt; spend more money on fixing abandoned properties and funding debt counseling; and give businesses a tax break. The White House had threatened to veto the bill.
As Michelle Malkin puts it, “Responsible homeowners and taxpayers are high-fiving each other.”
People gambled on sub-prime loans. And a lot of them have lost that wager. And just like the Government doesn’t owe me anything from my last bad trip to Vegas, the government shouldn’t be bailing these peopugle out either.
Listening to President Clinton speak last night, he talked about Hillary’s plan to bail these gamblers out. He tugged at the crowd’s heart strings by trying to convince them that millions of our friends and neighbors are about to lose their homes and “end up on the streets.”
Does President Clinton not realize that these people are free to go rent an apartment or a house? That there are options other than living on the street for people who don’t own their own homes? He does know that, right?

Where does it say in the US constitution that I must be responsible for the bad judgment of other people? It doesn’t. End of story.
