Not a good night for conservativism.
The tag team duo of John McCain and Mike Huckabee delivered a staggering blow to Mitt Romney’s hopes of being the GOP nominee for President.
Sigh.
The only good news from the night is that Hillary is still beating Obama. I think that John McCain will wipe the floor with Hillary in the General Election. I’m not so certain about the green junior senator from Illinois.
______
The question will be discussed on Thursday at CPAC: “Is the GOP lost?â€
Having to ask the question answers it, don’t you think?
Yeah. I don’t have a ‘lotta love or devotion to the Republican party at this point.

YES, the GOP is lost. But, what do we expect when we cannot define ourselves. I am thoroughly fed up. Huckabees did a good job of stinging Romney yesterday, with the help of the Queen Bee McCain and the bigwigs of the Repub party.
The dems outvoted us 2 to 1 yesterday. Get ready for President Obama or Clinton, probably the former.
From my perspective, Mitt hurt Mike. Mike could have had at least Oklahoma and Missouri if Mitt would have already dropped out. That tag team nonsense with Mike and Mc is just that, nonsense. Mike doesn’t like Mc one iota. Mc is not a conservative, Mike is, and Mitt says he is. I know who I will vote for, I’m a conservative.
Time for Mitt to drop out while Mike still has a shot at the remaining delegates.
Huckabee has no chance of winning the GOP nomination, and for that matter after yesterday, I wouldn’t put any money on Romney either. It’s going to be McCain and then it’s going to be my way or the highway. I don’t believe for a minute that McCain/Huckabee didn’t team up in WV to stop Romney. I heard Huck deny that “he” had any conversations with McCain, but he was careful to qualify the “he” part, leaving the door open for their teams or a third party to have conversed and still not be accused of lying. Chickenshit talk from Tyson country if you ask me.
Bitter, I admit it. I don’t believe Romney is the golden boy. He made mistakes. He didn’t engage any “name” support early in the game and he should have known better, especially being a business man. I do think he’s been dealt some bad cards tho and I wish he would have given McCain a licking.
You don’t have to believe me, but if you had seen the interview with Chris Wallace last night with Mike, you would know there is no love for Mc.
This tag team BS got started on talk radio last week, and now it’s becoming as universally accepted as the BS about Mike being a tax raiser.
Romney’s problem is he dealt the cards he played with. There are too many quotes and videos from the 90’s and 00’s where he was pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, and supported the assault weapons ban, but magically, when he saw a chance to run for Prez, he wasn’t any of those things. I know most of the politico types think we are a bunch of idiots, and every so often, the public reminds them we aren’t.
Mike is the only conservative in the race, consistently, lifelong conservative.
Check this link for the Gun Owners of America candidate break down.
This is Mitt’s problem, his own words.
Y’all can support whoever you like, but I do get angry when I see the lies, half-truths, and total distortions about Mike, and how some people accept them as fact without checking for themselves. Talk radio has been a great source of info for me for the past sixteen years, but when they start repeating the same lie on different shows, it makes me think they are in an echo chamber. I don’t care about what the GOP establishment wants, they are the one’s who have created this mess in the first place, by not attracting and supporting a true conservative, yet they expect that conservatives will just queue up and vote GOP and accept getting nothing in return, like the black voters and the hippies do for the donks.
No2 I watched those links and I’ll tell you one thing that is a fact – Mitt Romney is one handsome guy and younger, well, he must have been impossible to resist.
Henh…get a hold of yourself, gal! Your libido is a poor judge of…..a politician.
I think Mitt is basically a very good man, and would have voted for him if he won, but like I said, his own words have come back to haunt him with conservatives.
Mit drop out? Come on, he has won more states and has more delegates than Mike. Why should he go? One of my main issues is immigration and open borders, all the other issues pale to this. If we cannot even secure and shut down our border, control who comes in, deport those who don’t belong……heck nothing else matters. What do we stand for if we have no border, language or common culture???? NOTHING. Just a plot of land with people fighting over the scraps. Mike is a good man, I like him. If he had not adopted the liberal view and gave in state tuition to illegal’s I would be all for this guy. But that issue is paramount to the long term health of this country. The war will end, the economy will recover. all the the gay rights , abortion, stem cel, and gun talk will always go on….but our borders and history should be the most important thing to anyone who values Americas history. I cannot vote for someone who does not say NO to open borders, gives drivers licenses or tuition to illegals. We should be doing everything we can to stop these give aways. NO other country has such a liberal policy to non citizens, it is hurting us. We are NOT a melting pot anymore. Even tonight we are playing mexico in soccer and I heard that if you go to one of these matches in Houston the mexicans roar for mexico and boo the American team…yes it is a game, but it is a symptom that these people are loyal to Mexico only..not to the country that took them in. I find that HIGHLY offensive.!!
So I think Mike is spoiling it for Mitt. At least Mit has the right position on the issues now. All of them flop on certain issues, they are politicians from heaven sake….they all say what they have to. McCain is even worse. I would prefer mike to Mccain, but mike is not going to get it…..anyway just my thoughts. I am not happy about yesterday. We are being split in two. And I DO think some funny business did go on yesterday in that state..You have to be honest and admit back room deals are done all the time. None of these guys are above that. They are politicians after all and it is a dirty dirty business.
Are you implying that you believe that Manchurian Candidate theory of Senator McCain’s time as a POW or are the captions simply a poor choice of words?
Marc
I would like to see any proof that Mike offered in state tuition to illegals. What he proposed was allowing students of illegal aliens, that had high scholastic achievement, to apply for scholarships, after they had applied for citizenship.
I don’t know what other proof you need that he opposed to illegal immigration. He is endorsed by Jim Gilchrist, who founded the Minutemen. He is the only candidate to sign the pledge with Numbers USA, to halt illegal immigration and get rid of those who are here. What more do you want?
There are no sanctuary cities in Arkansas, not one. In Mass. there are four.
Mike’s nine point plan can be found here, along with his other issue positions.
I would like you to ask yourself one question. How is it that Mike has been able to accomplish so much, with so little exposure, and so few campaign funds, if his positions or message are so bad? He has no bundlers like Hillary, Mc, or Mitt, nor does he have at this point, any big money donors. It might be he isn’t for sale.
Marc, on that WV thing, the only funny business that can be shown, or that I believe, is that Mc knew he couldn’t win, baled, and let Mike take the heat, while Mc walked away without a scratch. How could Mike have any control over what Mc told his supporters to do?
I think a better question is why is it Mitt only won his home state by ten points over Mc, if he was so loved as their Gov. The BS Phyllis Schafly was spreading about Mike destroying the GOP in Arkansas was proven to be just that, as he won by forty one points. Mike may not have been the friend of the GOP establishment, but he was of the Arkansas conservative movement.
This map of the Missouri GOP county vote might be more meaningful for Dianne, being from the border with Mo, but still interesting.
While the focus the last few days has been how ugly things are for the GOP, it could be worse. It’s about to get really ugly for the donks.
Source.
Said what?
The NIE was faulty…waterboarding works…Pelosi knew?
Why wasn’t that in the news on Wednesday?
Just got one of those robo poll calls from Huck’s campaign blasting Romney for his position change on abortion. I answered their questions and stood by Romney. End of poll call.
Saturday I’ll be at the Kansas caucus as a Romney volunteer. The map was interesting, No2. It’s pretty clear to me that where Romney picked up the vote, illegal immigration is a problem.
“…waterboarding works…”
Then why wasn’t it used against Saddam? If it really works, then it could’ve saved thousands of Americans and Iraqis killed by Saddam loyalists and Sunni militias in the years since his capture. Heckuva job!
Well I guess this whole thread is pointless. Mit dropped out today much to my serious depression. Yes I hear you N2L, Mike sounds like a good man…I do like the guy, but what worries me is he seems very touchy feely with a big soft heart that would take in all the poor people of the world because it is the christian thing to do…WAIT, before you pound on me, I too beleive in God and am very pleased to see someone running who admits this. BUT we are talking about a closed border and cutting off all benefits to illegals so they self deport. I just don’t see Mike having that hard of a heart.! And to be honest that is what it will take, a real hard ass with an iron stomach that can stand some serious heat from the hang wringing liberals who will come down on him like a bomb. Mike just seems too nice for such a hardcore fight. But I could be wrong, he could be a wolf in sheeps clothing. I know about all his statements and people who support him, and that’s great. AND after today with Mit giving up, I will look at Mike because I CAN NOT vote for Mccain. I just can not vote for the man who authored the amnesty bill with kennedy…that would go against EVERYTHING I rant about everyday. So it will be Mike or third party for me….period.
Marc, I understand your concerns, but he is plenty tough from fighting the donk controlled state legislature in Arkansas, and the Clintoons and their machine. He is an honorable man, and he wouldn’t sign a pledge and then break it, it’s not the kind of politician he is.
I have concerns about Mike as well, mostly his inexperience in foreign affairs and national security, but I had those about W too, then he added Cheney as his VP and shored up his weakness. Mike would need to surround himself with good people, which to me is the mark of a good leader. He has some powerful allies that will now enter the fray, with him going against Mc head to head. Ross Perot for one, with his considerable resources and contacts…he loathes Mc.
Hey whats up, its Joe from Beaumont we met in Katz’s a couple of weeks ago. Just checking out the place. It looks nice, that McCain cartoon is hilarious!
I testified in court today over that issue I was making those calls about. Hopefully its finally over!
