Hypocrite, thy name is “Ron Paul“:

Of the combined 534 sitting members (one House seat is currently vacant), only 14 had $0 in earmarks both by themselves and with other members.  Twelve of those are Republicans.  However, beyond that, the stats show excessive – shall we say hoggish – earmarks from both parties.

The only current Presidential candidate with $0 total earmarks is John McCain.  Ron Paul, the man who touts himself “the taxpayer’s best friend”, earmarked $537,000 solo – a modest sum by comparison.  However, in concert with others, Paul earmarked a not-so-modest $27,000,000.  That is more than 170 other members of the House.

Mr. Small Government? Yeah, unless it benefits his home-town shrimping industry. Which in turn helps him to get re-elected. In which case, he’s as addicted to pork as the rest of Congress.

  1. If you knew anything about Paul, you’d know that he’s explained this in many interviews, and realize that he is trying to change this whole system. The money he is earmarking is the taxpayers money, of his district, and he’s trying as best he can to give it back to them.

Try learning something about the Federal Reserve and why Ron Paul wants to eliminate it. Most educated people would support Paul if they truly took the time to look at his policies, platform and voting record.

  2. One more time. 9TRILLION national debt. That’s $60,000 for each “working” American. How long does a REAL person have to work to owe those kind of taxes? I’m never going to pay this off and neither will my wife. So one of you “politically sophisticated” voters out there owes $120,000 on top of the $60 grand you already owe. Hurry on out and vote for your favorite republicrat and then get to work earning that taxable income.

  3. Earmarks are earmarks, regardless of the pig at the trough.
Paul is not only a hypocrite, but a world class idiot, for wanting to bring every troop we have overseas, protecting our vital national interests, home.
National debt? We would be a nation under seige by our enemies, instead of projecting our power outward.
Check the clock, I think it’s time for Paul’s meds.
