Yesterday was International Women’s Day. And yet many of the 3.3 billion females on our planet “continue to feel the age-old lash of violence, repression, isolation, enforced ignorance and discrimination.”
And some places much, much worse than others –Â The 10 Worst Countries for Women:
- Afghanistan — The average Afghan girl will live to only 45. More than half of all brides are under 16.
- Democratic Republic of Congo — Rapes are so brutal and systematic that UN investigators have called them unprecedented.
- Iraq
- Nepal
- Sudan — Abduction, rape or forced displacement have destroyed more than 1 million women’s lives since 2003.
- Guatemala
- Mali
- Pakistan — In the tribal border areas women are gang-raped as punishment for men’s crimes.
- Saudi Arabia
- Somali
How many of those are Islamic countries? Most of them? All except Congo (Christianity), Nepal (Hinduism), and Guatemala (Christianity).
Why am I not surprised.
