Perhaps the Governors of New York could consider just not cheating on their wifes?

In a stunning revelation, both Paterson, 53, and his wife, Michelle, 46, acknowledged in a joint interview they each had intimate relationships with others during a rocky period in their marriage several years ago.

In the course of several interviews in the past few days, Paterson said he maintained a relationship for two or three years with “a woman other than my wife,” beginning in 1999.

At least in new New York Governor David Paterson’s defense, his wife cheated on him too…

Next thing you’ll tell me that the spouses of New York’s US Senators are cheating on them too…

PATERSON GAL’S TAPE SHOCKER.

March 19, 2008 — ALBANY - An attractive Olympic gold-medalist says she had a close personal relationship with Gov. Paterson earlier this year - during which time she recorded a series of secret telephone conversations with him.

Track-and-field athlete Diane Dixon, of Brooklyn, also told The Post that she had received a private message yesterday morning from Paterson, asking if she was speaking with the media.

Surely you make a distinction between a couple seeing other people and a man paying for a prostitute.

[Editor --- While Spitzer paid in cash, it looks like Paterson might have paid for his with a city job.

And I don't make much distinction at all on "how" you cheat on your spouse. I think it shows remarkable weakness --- both in judgment and in morales. And I really do expect more out of our elected leaders.

And now Gov. Paterson admits that he "might have" used campaign funds to pay for his hotel trysts with his girlfriend...]
