I enjoy college basketball almost as much as I love college football. And today starts one of my favorite times of the entire year — March Madness.

Here are my Final 8 picks:

EAST Bracket — North Carolina and Tennessee — I don’t think anybody else in this bracket can match up with either of these teams. Winner — North Carolina

MIDWEST Bracket — Kansas and USC — This is definitely the toughest bracket in the field this year. Almost any team might beat any other in this group. Clemson is healthy and playing very fast-paced basketball. They could knock out Kansas. USC might be the most physically talented team in the field. If they get past a very big and physical Wisconsin team, that they’ll be a tough match up for Georgetown. Winner — Kansas.

WEST Bracket — UCLA and Xavier — It really looks like the selection committee went out of their way to make UCLA’s trip to the Final Four as easy as possible. This is by far the weakest bracket in the field this year. Duke is a vastly over-rated 2 seed. Winner — UCLA

SOUTH Bracket — Texas and Memphis — Neither team should have too much trouble with any of the other teams on their way to the Final 8. Though Memphis might find it’s potential Sweet 16 match up against Pittsburgh to be one of the best in that round. Texas, with wins over Tennessee, UCLA, and Kansas this season has shown that in the big games, they can beat anybody in the country. Winner — Texas

______

FINAL 4

Here’s my final four predictions:

  • North Carolina over Kansas
  • UCLA over Texas

Championship Game — The Tarheels over UCLA
