Sexual shenanigans aren’t just the milieu of Republicans…we simply catch more shit and harsher retribution for it.
For every Mark Foley who sent improper emails to a teenage (but of legal age) page, there’s a Gerry Studds who’s actually having sex with those teenage pages.
For every Larry Craig trolling for free sex in a bathroom stall, there’s an Eliot Spitzer paying the professionals for it:
Gov. Eliot Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, an administration official said this morning.
[snip]
Mr. Spitzer, a first term Democrat who pledged to bring ethics reform an end the often seamy ways of Albany, is married with three children.
[snip]
An affidavit filed in federal court in Manhattan in connection with that case lists six conversations between the man, identified as Client 9, and a booking agent for the Emperors Club.

The Ladies of the Emperors Club
When Republicans are caught with their pants down, so to speak, they are usually run out of office by their fellow conservatives. The Democrats usually make excuses for them, but let them keep their job.
Rumor has it that Spitzer is going to resign over this flap. The man broke the law. And the public trust. He should step down. But look at Gerry Studs. Look at Teddy Kennedy. Look at Patrick Kennedy. Look at William Jefferson. Look at President Bill Clinton (You don’t have to have a pimp or exchange cash-for-sex to be involved a prostitute. Just look at Monica Lewinsky.)
Obviously you can be guilty-as-shit of some pretty serious stuff and still keep your job as a Democrat. It’s only the Republicans who are expected to resign.
_____
More on the Emperor’s Club:
The ring was known as the Emperor’s Club VIP and offered 50 prostitutes in New York, Paris, Washington, Miami and London, The New York Times reported.
The appointments, made through an online booking service, cost between $1076 and $5921 an hour.
Wow. Who says we’re in a recession? Per hour? Really? I’ve met some fantastic women in my life. But not a single one of them was nearly $6k/hour fantastic.
Does being governor of NY really pay that well? John Edwards was right after all — there are two Americas: The one where rich Democrats diddle young ladies (who aren’t their wifes) for $6K/hour, and the rest of us who can’t/won’t.
_____
In the early pictures of his televised “apology”, his wife is standing beside him. Which makes her an idiot. Maybe she’s angling to be a NY Senator…I don’t know. Worked for Hillary though.

The Spitzers
My wife would be so far gone. With all of my stuff. No way she’s standing there humiliated for my illegal infidelity. I’m not sure which she’d be most pissed about — that I cheated, or that I spent nearly $6K/hour to do it. Either way, she’d be gone. Long gone. I can’t imagine being married to a woman who would put up with that shit. No way would I marry a woman so weak and void of self-respect and self-worth that she’d put up with that.

It’s not fair to say that Democrats somehow survive sex scandals while Republicans are forced to resign. The Spitzer situation is
akin to that of David Vitter, who was humiliated but did not resign
and is still going strong in the Senate. For that matter, Larry Craig
is still in the Senate. In my home state of New Jersey, McGreevey
was in fact forced to resign for his scandal. My own libertarian view
is that prostitution should be legal and that I don’t care what consenting adults do with each other. And for the record, I’m going
to vote for McCain in November.
Na-Na-Na-Na…Na-Na-Na-Na…..Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey Goodbye!
He has a tiny …… What will his Jewish mother think?
I don’t understand just how much these politicians actually get paid. seriously…. How do they afford that?
Housewives definitely are underpaid.
I wonder if he paid sales tax? Or luxury tax? Snort
The creep.
All kinds of questions arise here:
1. Why would the bank tell the IRS and not Spitzer himself if there was a suspicious transfer? Spitzer is a longtime client, a rich guy and the governor. We’re talking thousands of dollars here, not millions. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that they spotted a “suspicious transfer” made by the governor, and that this is how things began. It’s possible it was just ordinary paperwork the bank had to file with the government whenever some particular flag was raised, but if that’s the case, why did the DoJ go to DefCon 3?
2. What is a USA doing prosecuting a prostitution case? This isn’t normally what the feds spend their time with.
3. Mike Garcia is a Chertoff crony. Sources familiar with the investigation say that he sent a prosecution memo to DC two months ago asking for authority to indict a public figure (Spitzer). Which means they had their case made long before the wire tap of February 13. Why did they then include this line from that conversation in the complaint?
LEWIS continued that from what she had been told “he” (believed to be a reference to Client-9) “would ask you to do things that, like, you might not think were safe — you know — I mean that…very basic things….”Kristen” responded: “I have a way of dealing with that…I’d be like listen dude, you really want the sex?…You know what I mean.”
This salacious detail does not seem like it’s necessary to make their case, and appears to be added for no other purpose than to destroy Spitzer’s career.
4. How did Spitzer’s name get leaked to the media, and who did it? Didn’t happen to Dave Vitter.
5. Why did Mike Bloomberg suddenly start talking about running for governor recently? And why did he give $500,000 to Joe Bruno? He’s good buddies with Mike Mukasey. What did he know and how did he know it?
6. The Mann Act? Are you kidding?
7. Spitzer’s been in the line of fire of the GOP hit squad for a while. Roger Stone, Roger Stone, Roger Stone.
There are all kinds of things about this that just don’t pass the smell test.
Amazing how Senator David Vitter’s name never leaked out of the Justice Department after the arrest of the D.C. Madam, but Eliot Spitzer’s name leaked out of the Justice Department within a week of the initial arrest in the Emperor V.I.P. case.
Has Vitter been asked to resign yet? No.
[Editor --- The sex with a prostitute that Sen. Vitter is alleged to have engaged in occurred before he became a Senator. Are you suggesting that he resign for illegal and immoral behavior that occurred before he became a Senator? If so, have you called for the dope smoking, cocaine snorting, drug dealing Sen from Illinois to resign yet? No. ]< ./font>
The self proclaimed “steamroller”just ran out of steam.
What a hypocrite.
To think people are defending this rat makes me sick.
What about the people he prosecuted for prostitution do
they get to appeal?
It would be a crime if we showed lienecy.
Its been 20 hours and we havent heard a resignation out of
this putz.
I say throw the book at him!
Im sure they will greet him with opened arms in the joint.
Because he wired money instead of paying cash, the bank reported him to the feds who initially believed he was laundering money/paying bribes, etc. The feds are seeking to prosecute him under the structuring laws. I don’t want the government investigating every minor bank transaction I make. This is an abuse of power.
He also broke a federal law from the early 1900 (an oldie but a goodie)called the mann law.
It was made to protect women from being kidnapped into slavery.
To allow the feds to find these women country wide.
This could be a great opportuinty to make an example out of this guy.
To keep the future of are public servents in check.
So they live up to there obligations as role models for the
youth of our country.Lets go for max punishment.
Treat him like he treated outhers in court.
If we dont we’ll pay dearly when the next guy that takes it further.
He could be tried in all the states she travelled threw.
As well as federal.
They say he had a bodyguard with him thats state issued.
Im from NY so i payed for part of that.
As you could see im not to happy about it.
Wow! In Palma de Mallorca better than 30 years ago, a good time was about 10-15 bucks.
[Editor --- Sadly, that's still very close to the going rate in slum holes right across our border in Juarez and Tijuana.]< ./font>
