A week ago, the Colombian military conducted an operation against a guerrilla camp inside Ecuador’s territory against Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC), also known as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.
FARC is considered a terrorist group by the Colombian government, the United States, Canada, the Latin American Parliament, and the European Union.
During the operation, the Columbian military killed Reyes, FARC’s international spokesman and considered to be FARC’s second-in-command, along with at least 16 of his fellow guerrillas.
They also seized a laptop from Reyes.
Interestingly, Sen. Barack Obama’s name was on that laptop. Translated from Spanish:
The gringos will ask for an appointment with the minister to solicit him to communicate to us his interest in discussing these topics. They say that the new president of their country will be Obama and that they are interested in your compatriots. Obama will not support “Plan Colombia” nor will he sign the TLC (Colombian Free Trade agreement). Here we responded that we are interested in relations with all governments in equality of conditions and that in the case of the US it is required a public pronouncement expressing their interest in talking with the FARC given their eternal war against us.
Investor’s Business Daily has a few questions they’d like Sen. Obama to answer (though they’ll have to get in line behind the Chicago Sun Times, who is still waiting for Obama to answer their questions about his relationship with Rezko):
Obama hasn’t said a whole lot about Colombia other than to criticize President Bush’s good relations with President Uribe. With this correspondence suggesting that FARC knows what he thinks, maybe the American voters have a right to know what he thinks, too. Five questions come to mind:
- Is it true Obama would cut off Plan Colombia military aid to our ally, which would serve the terrorist group FARC’s interests?
- Does Obama still oppose a free trade agreement for Colombia, even though that puts him on the same side as FARC in the debate?
- Does Obama know or care that one of his staffers or supporters is claiming to disclose his positions in secret meetings with FARC terrorists outside government channels?
- Can he tell us why his supporters would pass on such information to terrorists, and what he or she could gain from it?
- Will Obama, as president, treat FARC as the serious terrorists they are, given that they still hold three Americans hostage?
Of course, the Obamanites will tell us that there is nothing to see here. Like with the Rezko connection. Or like his ties to the Nation of Islam. Or his radical cousin in Kenya. Or…
You’ve got to be kidding! Plan Colombia is a mess and a monstrous waste of money. It’s such a disaster, the Bush Administration has launched a PR campaign to make sure anti-drug aid to Mexico isn’t called “Plan Mexico,” because of the implication that it would fail as badly as Plan Colombia has.
FARC has held US hostages for most of the Bush presidency. Please point me to your posts criticizing him for hanging them out to dry in the name of your beloved Plan Colombia.
Finally if a “supporter” (there are millions over whom the campaign has no control) “is claiming to disclose Obama’s positions in secret meetings with FARC terrorists,” that hardly obligates Obama to justify a statement no one can document he made. Many people speculate on the positions of US presidential candidates without firsthand knowledge.

I don’t know much about “Plan Columbia,” I only know what yields results. Reyes is worm food, and another top commanders of the Sorry FARCers is dead, known only as Rojas, it was learned Friday. I can only hope Uribe knew about it before he apologized and shook hands with the with the Marxist A-Holes from Ecuador and Venezuela. Rojas died at the hands of his bodyguard, who wanted to surrender, as he knew the whole deal had gone bad. He shot Rojas in the forehead, lopped off his hand for proof, and surrendered to Columbian forces with that proof, along with Rojas’ laptop and personal documents.
The removal of Reyes was possible due to American technology, sat phones and military equipment that would allow them to track and pinpoint it, along with the American supplied aircraft, missiles, and special forces, in part trained by our military, and supplied with mostly American military weapons.
If Plan Columbia has had any part in that, then it’s hardly a mess or a waste of money, if it helps in ridding the Earth of a forty-four year old narco-terrorist organization.

As for the Dhimmicrats refusing to approve Free Trade with Columbia, there is no real downside for this country, only the Dhimmis and their trade union donors and voters, and of course the sympathy the Dhimmis have for Marxist governments. It reminds me of the Dhimmis that signed a letter of support for the Marxist government of Noriega’s Nicaraguan Sandanistas.
