UPDATE (March, 13) — Ms. Ferraro has resigned from the Clinton campaign team.
_____
I’m not surprised that this comment from Geraldine Ferraro isn’t getting more play — especially from the Obamaniacs!
When the subject turned to Obama, Clinton’s rival for the Democratic Party nomination, Ferraro’s comments took on a decidedly bitter edge.
“I think what America feels about a woman becoming president takes a very secondary place to Obama’s campaign – to a kind of campaign that it would be hard for anyone to run against,” she said. “For one thing, you have the press, which has been uniquely hard on her. It’s been a very sexist media. Some just don’t like her. The others have gotten caught up in the Obama campaign.
“If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position,” she continued. “And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.” Ferraro does not buy the notion of Obama as the great reconciler.
I think the reason this hasn’t gotten much play is because a lot of people agree and believe this, too. Including a lot of people who drank the Hope and Change Koolaidâ„¢. But everybody is too afraid to just say it.
Because to do so obviously makes you a racist.
Just to be clear — I wouldn’t vote for Barack Obama if he was white. Because he’d still be the same empty-suited, inexperienced, far-left socialist that he is today.
___
Of course, as pointed out by a commenter at The Politico:
And if her name weren’t “Clinton” she’d be a soccer mom somewhere with a part-time lawyer job handling worker’s comp cases. Why has no one pointed out that the woman is just not very talented?
True dat.

It wouldn’t change the fact that he doesn’t have enough experience….and is way too liberal for my vote…..
I’m not sure to which countries he has loyalties to ….assuming the U.S. is somewhere near the top of his list.
Took a lot of gutso for Ferraro to write that! Bet the Rev. Al Sharpton will be on her case.
[Editor --- According to the Agence France Presse, the Obama camp is already in a fury over Ferraro's comment. Too funny. Especially since Michelle Obama has already exhorted us all to "vote for Obama because he's black."]
to do what? believe “if obama was a white man, he would not be in this position…”
i don’t agree. i’m not even sure, what, about this could be misconstrued as racism? the media handles all race related issues with kid gloves, and with the reverend “race hustler”, “rhyme master”, “emperor of shakedown street” sharpton lurking, at times i don’t blame them.
that said, let’s get real. while i’m quoting no polls, surveys, or statistics here… it seems quite obvious that more folks support mr. obama because of perceived skin color than women support hillary over womanhood or mccain over being white and/or male. just engage in genuine dialogue about reasons for supporting the remaining candidates. the responses tell the tale. ask an obama supporter what has obama achieved that encourages us to believe that he would be a desirable president. you ask hillary and mccain supporters and many, if not most, can point to specific accomplishments. obama supporters, not so much…i tend to hear naive optimism about social policies and buzzwords like inspiration and change. besides his potus bid, what national change or inspiration has he already accomplished? even the hardcore supporters tout a paper thin, ivy league, resume with catchy titles like senator and community activist. but what has he done? what did he change or inspire in the senate or in the community? lets hear some stories from people whose lives senator obama has helped. we’ve heard them about his opponents.
or maybe we should suspend our catering to the ultrasensativity of victimologists for a second and recognize that ferraro is one of few liberals admitting that this problem exists. we sure know that hillary can’t bring up the issue; nor can mccain, and dianne and i both eluded to why. while i respect her accomplishments and strongly disagree with the majority of her stated policy positions, i would qualify mrs. ferraro as someone to pay attention to regarding why people vote how they do. the fact that she is acknowledging the purple elephant in the liberal room shows that she is a pioneer not only among democrats but conservatives who skirt, hide, and veil what everyone knows. for those struggling to keep up “RACE IS AN ISSUE” in this campaign. most media and pollsters don’t want to talk about it’s effect, so they downplay it or ignore it. god forgive me here, but i’m jumping on the ferraro “RACE IS AN ISSUE” bandwagon and i think folks should ask eachother why we support who and what we do. i’m also taking all comers that believe this position is “racist” and i would love to hear your thoughts. however, i will decline debate with reverand al just as my own little social protest but anyone else…
I am just enjoying watching the Democrats self destruct.
I actually like Barak. He seems sincere, and next to Hillary, a very nice person. I like messages of unity and hope. I’m kind of that way.
However, he is a Ultra Liberal Socialist. 90% of his own website is about equality for blacks, affirmative action, poor me politics.
I will certainly do everything in my power to make sure he is not elected.
But if it were a choice between him of Hillary, I’ll take him. I really never want to see her face, or Bill’s again.
Well, I hope she doesn’t resign. What she said is true, plain and simple. Now 99% instead of 90% of blacks will vote for Obama … because he is black. The pundits say the blacks vote for Obama out of pride. That is probably part of it, but the main thing is HE is black…and wait a minute, let me correct that. He is HALF black, although the one drop rule is still in force.
This race is more about race than any race I can remember in my lifetime. In fact, people all over are charging racism for being against illegal immigration. I’m tired of it. Call me racist, hater, I don’t care.
Tell ya what, if this doesn’t all cool down, we’re gonna have REAL race riots in this country again.
Nice blog. Glad I happened by, and hope to return.
I think the biggest contributing factor to Hillary’s campaign is being a woman, and Obama’s is being black. Hillary has original, (if misguided in my view), ideas, whereas Obama is pretty much just saying what he thinks people want to hear.
I wish a black woman would run for the Republican nomination and shut both of them the hell up.
Respectfully.
[Editor --- Thanks for stopping in. Hope to see you around some more.
As for a GOP Black woman running? The Left would tear her apart as a "race traitor" or a "house nigger" (terms commonly lobbed at Condi Rice).]
How much experience did John Edwards have in 2004? Did he not get the VP nod with one term in the Senate?
Here is some reality.
I looked into Geraldine Ferraro’s record at the time she got the VP nod in 1984…she was relatively unaccomplished and one can argue the only reason she was on the ticket was because she was a good attack dog and she lacked a penis, so for her as a “token woman†to say Obama is a “token black man†is hypocritical beyond words…as she is the prototype.
As I’ve shown before, even when you adjust for population, and compare white women to black (of any gender) there have been far more white females as Governors and Senators than any black person. It is not even close. Blacks are 12% of the population and white women are 33% according to http://www.census.gov. That means, if everything was equal there should be no more than 2.75X the rate of white women in those offices than blacks. A moron can find out in 5 minutes the number is way over double that.
There have been 3 black governors (one not elected) since Reconstruction and 2 black Senators (one a woman before Obama) that is it.
Now go check wiki and see how many white women have been in these positions…way more than 3X the black rate.
Historically it has been far easier for any white woman to get elected to higher office than any black (man or woman). How many white (men and women) have benefited from whites bloc voting against them? Quite a few.
So being black historically has not helped anyone in a state wide election and definitely not a national election…she is a bag and a hypocrite.
I recognize that race is perceived as a major problem in this country.
In my life, the greatest single factor in learning about how unimportant race is, in the grand scheme, was the time I was in the military. When it comes down to the unit level, you rely on your buds, and they on you, irrespective of race. As a military policeman, I had to walk into tense situations, chase down dark alleys, and walk through doors knowing full well there was someone on the other side that didn’t want me there, and in all those instances, I had to rely on my partner and/or backup units to keep my firm and ample arse from harm. And so did my buds. Skin color meant absolutely nothing, and the bonds you form with people you rely on, and know you can trust with your life, as well as they with you, overcomes social constructs. I never once had a conflict with a member of my units over skin color, only on performance, and if another patrolman didn’t handle himself properly, and left my ya-ya hanging out, I would pound him into the pavement. One thing we all had in common was our blood color.
As for Ferrarro, she has demonstrated over the years what a dingus she is, and can’t imagine anyone wanting advice from her on anything. As for race in politics, it is in it’s natural place today, as the Dhimmis will never stop using racial and economic divides for political purposes, mostly to gain votes, but to deter voters from leaving the fold, as well.
In fact, I think it’s high time we heard from Bob Parks.
Skin color meant absolutely nothing,
It’s great to hear an eloquent and progressive take on the value of each of us all as individuals. I agree with what you’ve written here.
I’m afraid that the unspoken message however, is that government and institutions should be helpless in the face of injustices- historic and ongoing that make it more difficult for people to obtain decent education, jobs, and housing as a result of their skin color. I don’t see that as color blindness- just blindness.
[Editor --- I'm sorry. But what educational opportunities were either one of the Obama's not afforded? Barack is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School. Michelle was educated at Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
What jobs have they been denied? Michelle has worked at the law firm Sidley Austin, on the staff of the Mayor of Chicago Richard M. Daley, and for the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Hospitals. I think I recall her last gig paid in the $300K/year area. Barack worked as a community organizer, university lecturer, and civil rights lawyer before running for public office and serving in the Illinois Senate. I don't see anything to suggest that either one of these "historically prejudiced" black people has ever not been able to get some pretty damned good work. Though I don't see anything to suggest that either one of them has ever had to sweat nor toil for a day's wages.
Shall we discuss housing? That might lead to an uncomfortable discussion of his shady and "regretful" real estate deal with Tony Rezko.]
Progressive take? Ugh!
I call it the adult approach. I treat everyone the same until, or unless, their behavior indicates they don’t deserve that treatment.
Opportunities abound in this country, a poor man can become rich, a rich man can become poor, some are happy with less, some are happy with more. Skin color is quite possibly the most meaningless indicator of all.
For those who don’t take advantage of the educational opportunities available, don’t study and try and excel, whether it’s academia or vocational, then they are exhibiting behavior that is maladaptive for the society they live in. The fact that so many Black Americans have succeeded in their endeavors is proof that the cultural and historical baggage so many wish to place on American society, are false constructs.
The history of slavery in this country is a dark era, but it is in the past, and those who cling to it, as somehow depriving our citizens their dignity, are doing so willfully. I look directly at the Democrat Party when I say this, with their history of enforcing slavery, Jim Crow laws, and subverting Civil Rights legislation.
For a view most are never aware of, visit the webpage for The National Black Republican Association.
I’ve just about had it with the Obamas. They are both racists, ingrates, and America haters and he is neither qualified nor does he deserve this country’s highest office. I can’t wait for both of them to crash and burn. Shit — they make Clinton look good!
