And is some non-Obama-related — and thus good — news, the SCOTUS looks like they are going to back gun rights in D.C.
Which is a good thing for everybody who believes in the second amendment:
The US Supreme Court appears ready to rule that Americans have a constitutional right to keep a gun in their home for self-defence, a ruling that could help Republicans in the upcoming presidential election.
Hearing the most important gun rights case in nearly 70 years, the justices on Tuesday spent 98 minutes engrossed in a lively debate about British and American legal traditions relating to the right to bear arms, especially in self-defence.
By the end of Tuesday’s session, it appeared clear that a majority of the court would rule that the US constitution protects the right of individual Americans to “keep and bear arms†– but that federal, state and local governments will retain some powers to regulate firearms.
Considering that Pennsylvania is a huge hunting state (Pennsylvania has the nation’s second-largest number of licensed hunters), and that the next Democratic primary is in Pennsylvania, I would love to see one MSM journalist or debate moderator ask both Hillary and Barack this one simple question (via Extreme Mortman):
Here’s a proposal: Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton should be asked their thoughts about the case. A simple question: Which way do you hope the case is decided?
Surely the candidates will punt and demur, answering with something like, “That’s up to the Justices to decide,†or “We shouldn’t politicize the case.â€
Which should lead to this follow-up question: OK, then taking the Supreme Court out of the equation, should other states follow DC’s lead and pass complete restrictions on gun ownership?
Their answers in NRA-friendly Pennsylvania would be quite interesting.
Ok. So I couldn’t get through even one post today without bagging on Barack Obama — it’s just too easy. These things almost write themselves…

One thing we can agree on…
Of course we will have to wait a while for the ruling, and more than once we have been fooled by the ruling based on the hearing. In this case, though, I think we will see a ruling that doesn’t contradict the evidence or the testimony.
Just looking at D.C. alone, the evidence is clear that the ban imposed on it’s citizens has been an abysmal failure, as all forms of violent crime exploded after the ban was put into effect.
Right on.
I guess it’s fair to say you don’t spend much time on Obama’s website to see what he actually thinks about the issues:
Barack Obama deeply respects America’s sportsmen and is committed to protecting their rights. Tens of millions of Americans hunt and fish. Obama believes that we can protect the rights of hunters and other lawful gun owners while still working to reduce gun violence and make sure that guns do not fall into the hands of criminals or the mentally ill.
If I may speak for Obama, I think it’s fair to say no, he would not advocate other states to follow DC’s lead.
[Editor --- You do know that Obama has said that he wants to outlaw all semi-automatic weapons. That would include nearly every single hand gun made today (except revolvers). Besides, and more importantly, the second amendment isn't about protecting a man's right to hunt deer. It's intended to protect his right to protect himself from his government or his ill-intended fellow man.
I don't hunt. But I do own and carry weapons in order to protect myself and my family from those who would do us harm.]
should hunting, after reading this, be banned?
